A born and bred New Yorker has laid bare why the city will never recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, a dark week of looting in June and its ongoing struggle against escalating crime, homelessness and violence.
James Altrucher, who co-owns a comedy club in the city and also describes himself as an angel investor and author, is among the many who have fled New York City.
He and his family fled to Miami after the June riots and looting made them fear for their lives and their children's safety, when people tried to break into his apartment building.

I agree, between incompetent leadership in DeBlasio/Cuomo and the Kung Flu where people realized life was good without being in the city - the rotten apple is about to get more rotten.
I noticed a few months ago in my Amazon Prime video list that there were a LOT of post apocalypse movies. I wonder if it’s affecting our culture. It appears NYC is entering such an era.
BTTT
The rotten apple is getting smashed
On reading this, I just realized that “occupy Wall Street” was the Leftists model and training ground for the mayhem in Seattle, Portland and other cities right now. The core theme is the same - Marxist anti-capitalism. The only difference now is the BLM thread is being used by the Marxists to tie the police and “racism” to capitalism via so-called “white privilege”.
Yea and the liberal AH took his ideology with him to MIA
Hes a POS
Wait until all they have left are the poor screaming for more goodies and the few middle class left can’t pay them......
Meanwhile UK DM says Born and Bred
Check your calendars D.C., BLM arrives 28 August and Occupy arrives 17 September for a 50-day ‘siege’!
Read this over the weekend.
Devastating and spot on...
His letter is interesting and I think he made some points that might be true. The pandemic has changed things quite a bit. The allure of the big city will always be there, but if the work, culture, and restaurant industry leaves what is the allure - homeless, filth, high crime, high cost of living, and high taxes?
I have not been to NYC in many years so I do not know enough to validate or invalidate this letter. However, I do know one thing - check the UHaul prices from NYC to anywhere USA in comparison to the return trip. Uhaul does not lie and the Uhaul index is indicating there are many big cities that are in deep trouble because it is taxpayers who are leaving.
It started with ObaMAO getting everyone ginned-up with a false racism narrative. A narrative which suspiciously accelerated a few months before the Plandemic hit our shores.
If a new yorker retains his new york employer he will still get taxed by new york. Moving to another state would just add to the tax bill (though there is some credit paid to another state). NY is one of 5 states that tax out of state telecommuters. This might keep them from moving out of state for a while.
NYC has no chance of a comeback as long as it has a Marxist Left Mayor.
Racism has always been a problem, but the Left has long realized it could be used as a Trojan horse to replace limited government with unlimited power. In particular, the Demonrats use it to shame a significant proportion of whites into supporting them and use it to constantly whip up racial animosity to keep blacks voting for Dems. That’s the only way the Dems can get a majority in any national election.
If homelessness is up so much, why aren’t scores upon scores of people dying because of the pandemic?
Because the homeless are safe outside and probably haven’t had a flu shot in years.
