"I hope they're not going to be politically correct,' Trump said
Following Muellers investigation, Barr appointed Durham to then investigate the origins of the FBIs original Russia probe, which began in July 2016, through the appointment of Mueller in May 2017.
Durhams team includes a number of federal prosecutors, including Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri who was tapped by the DOJ in February to review the case against Michael Flynn. In May, Barr also tapped U.S. Attorney for Western Texas John Bash to launch a more focused review on the process of unmasking.
The Justice Department also revealed that Durham, himself, is investigating the unmasking of Trump campaign associates as part of his broader review. That line of investigation was confirmed after Grassley, R-Iowa, and Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., made public a list of Obama officials who purportedly requested to unmask the identity of Michael Flynn, who at the time was Trumps incoming national security adviser.
Unmasking occurs after U.S. citizens' conversations are incidentally picked up in conversations with foreign officials who are being monitored by the intelligence community. The U.S. citizens' identities are supposed to be protected if their participation is incidental and no wrongdoing is suspected. However, officials can determine the U.S. citizens' names through a process that is supposed to safeguard their rights. In the typical process, when officials are requesting the unmasking of an American, they do not necessarily know the identity of the person in advance.
The roster featured top-ranking figures including then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-FBI Director James Comey, then-CIA Director John Brennan, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and Obamas then-chief of staff Denis McDonough.

I’m really trying to be patient but my patience is running thin.....REAL THIN
The longer this takes, the more I think that Barr and Durham are DC insiders just running out the clock on DJT...
If they get close to November 3rd and only indict some low level guy who altered a 302 report, then the fix is in...
These Coup bastards have all, at a minimum, lied to Congress...
Jack them all up...
I’m going to go against the majority, now, and say there will be indictments soon. I think they are building a case for conspiracy. It will be monumental.
I’ve been back and forth on this for a couple years, mainly saying there will be no indictments. But I notice Barr’s remarks over the last year where he says there were people after the President and so forth. And there has been no leaks at all from Durham, only the one from Brennan himself last week where he basically cleared himself (to lay the foundation for an “It’s all political” defense). And I keep seeing the Dimms and their lapdog media allies attack the investigation and impugn Barr 24/7. They are not acting like they think he’s got nothing, IMO. The seem a little scared.
I think the next couple months will be historic, mainly good.
Especially relevant in the case of Barr who did pro-bono work for the murderer.
Why would this be any different, no one was indicted for all the criminal acts during the obama years. They keep the puppet show going as long as we’ll watch
It may just be a rumor but I hear he has been secretly practicing for a piccolo performance.
Imagine the shock to the system (the press, the Congress, the public) if the first notice of a special council is when the special council has completed her investigation.
Not saying this is going to happen, but as long as you are going to be optimistic, might as well add this to the pile of possibles.
Politically correct? Is that what the are calling covering for felons now?
Sundance at the Treehouse says if there’s no action by tommorrow he’s going to start kicking a$$ and naming names over the weekend. We shall see.
EXACTLY!! Thank you for saying so. I’ve been going on here about what a useless blob Barr is and caught hell for it. Why hasn’t anyone been perp walked yet?
Wake me when perp walks happen!!!!!!
It’s becoming obvious that most (all?) of Trump’s cabinet has not been loyal to POTUS. They’ve sat back and allowed partisan Democrats and GOP Never Trumpers in their departments to defacto run them without cabinet level leadership. DOJ/FBI, DNI, DOD, State under Tillerson, etc. President Trump has very little control of the executive branch. Mnuchin has been seemingly loyal, though.
The reason nothing has happened is simple: near everybody inside the beltway hate POTUS and those who elected him. Regardless of the law and their sworn oaths they won’t validate his positions. Ever.
I would say your analysis has merit.
If you’ve ever really looked at a photo of Durham, it’s nearly always the one where he’s glowering at the camera over his sinister looking whiskers. I really expected to see him kick some @$$E$ and take some names. So far; crickets. I’m concluding that the whiskers and the glowering sourpuss are merely an affectation, intended to give a tough impression. But in reality he’s the 21st century version of a rhinestone cowboy. He’s an empty suit. He’s a legend in his own mind. He’s enjoyed a cushy sinecure at a gubmint teat for decades, and he ain’t gonna make any waves now. JMHO.
That is what happened in Watergate. I think the four burglars pleaded guilty and the judge, sensing a conspiracy, threw the book at them. I think they drew ten year sentences. Not long after that Nixon recorded himself in the Oval office discussing hush money to cover up the conspiracy.
At the very least Durham should have nailed the lawyer who forged an email to defraud the FISA court. That might lead directly to Strzok and Page as conspirators in that fraud. Throw the book at them then. Let the dominoes fall.
Make it very clear that those who cooperate early and fully get deals; not a free ride.
Sundance at the Treehouse says if theres no action by tommorrow hes going to start kicking a$$ and naming names over the weekend. We shall see.
Barr is on Hannity right now doing CYA. My guess is Durham hired a bunch of Democrats and Sundance is going to start naming names. It will be UGLY.
Bttt
Correct, and your knowledge of the history of Watergate is also spot on. Durham wont do a thing, except (perhaps) go after underlings that are so low on this crime that they can be used as cannon fodder to protect the Deep State and the political class.
Trump knows something. Someone leaked to him. Thats why he chose the words he did. He reiterated that the coup and spying criminality came from Obama on down, and that he fears that all Barr and Durham will do is go after underlings, if even that.
This was a last ditch effort by Trump to try and prod the attorney general and the US attorney assigned to this case to do the right thing. It wont work.
Youre correct about Durham. Remember, the FBI works for the Justice Dept. If Durham was really serious about getting to the bottom of this, the FBI would also have to be held accountable. Durham and Barr will never do that.
