After each long day of working on the United States pandemic response, the nations top infectious-disease expert power-walks through his Northwest Washington neighborhood with his wife and their daughters dog.
Recently, Anthony S. Faucis nightly jaunts through the neighborhood where he has lived since 1977 have taken him past at least a dozen signs bearing his name tokens of appreciation for his staid service on the White House coronavirus task force.
I have been, for so long, a quiet, inconspicuous person in my neighborhood, and now there are signs up telling me that they love me, Fauci marveled on Monday. I think its great, but I certainly dont let anything like that go to my head.

Where’s the barf alert? Almost hurled on this one.
I have a relative who was a senior banking executive. After a couple of other stops in the Midwest he took a lucrative offer from a D.C. bank.
He quickly learned that he wasn’t in Kansas anymore. His employees in that town displayed a certain moral fungibility that he had not seen anywhere else on the planet. He packed-up and moved back to Pittsburgh literally days after he retired.
At a gut level, I dislike him. When I first saw him, something screamed at me inside for no rational reason that he was a snake. I didn’t know who he was, but...my gut told me something.
That happens to me occasionally, and sometimes it is right, and sometimes it isn’t.
In this case, some of the unethical things he did to people who worked for and with him make it appear to me that my first impression that he was a snake at least have a foundation.
My grandmother had that sort of interpersonal radar.
She could spot a bad apple in about five seconds.
One of my brothers seems to have inherited that.
Me, not so much.
It is an odd, visceral reaction to be sure. Not always right, but I do listen to it.
Wheres the BARF alert????
If Fauci had a Tan and a Uterus, he could be Joementia’s Running Mate.
What a barf job.
“How does being wrong on everything make one a hero?”
Because many people will worship anything and anyone BUT God.

As Fauci battles the pandemic and politics, his grateful neighbors celebrate him as a hero https://t.co/kmtoLBuQJu— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) August 7, 2020
Lol. What a cult of personality for someone who is so consistently wrong and out of touch with reality.— No Problem ☀️ (@venivici27) August 7, 2020
At least dad had the dignity to not be in the picture. Maybe he took the photo, though.
And you dredge up Free Republic dogma fabricated by those who have no science and eschew action based on science they can not comprehend.
For many, ignorance is truly bliss
Say what you will about Dr. Birx but at least she does not appear to seek fame unlike Dr. Fauci.
Somebody is lying.
Oh, bull excrement.
“I certainly dont let anything like that go to my head.
So now he’s practicing for his retirement years doing stand-up comedy. It doesn’t go to his head ... riiiight.
I live in the swamp. The entitlement, lib group think, WashComPost zombie drone, fake news thinking in almost indescribable. I have to leave the area a go visit real America on a regular basis just to be sane, which can be found not too far outside the metro.
You described that well. Although I joke the real world when driving out of the Beltway starts when you see the first Trump signs, probably around Frederick.
