The community is mourning tonight after a man was shot dead at a Davenport Funeral Home.
24- year-old Nuemonei Laster is now behind bars, hes being charged with first degree murder and felon possession of a firearm among other charges.
The victim is 26-year-old Jeremy Shorter of Davenport.
Police say Shorter was gunned down while attending his sons visitation at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport on Saturday morning.
Jamie Delaney Shorter is Jeremys father and he said he will be strong for the 17 children his son left behind.
That grandpa is going to be there for them and their other siblings when they get around their bothers and sisters just try to be strong, said Shorter.
His children were there when the tragic shooting happened.

At that rate, there may be a couple on the way...
That’s why all 17 were killed, eh?
...A man of 26 has 17 children? Im guessing that multiple mothers are involved.
Was he paying his child support?
******************************************************
Im sure hes paying somewhere between zero and a pittance in child support to his spawn. The likelihood is that the taxpayers are providing most or all of their support as well as supporting the obviously STUPID baby mommas.
The good news is that 9 months from now hell have no further spawn arriving.
ONG 17 kids at 26 how many baby mamas this is SICKENING!! We are all supporting his 17 kids!! Well at least this maniac wont be having anymore fricking kids!!
Or why he was attending a funeral for his son (who I read somewhere was 8 years old)? What happened to the child?
*********************************************
The 8 year old died of cancer.
He had 18 kids. He was killed during the visiting hours for his son!!
17 different mamas? Tell me again about the problems in the black community?
Idiocracy comes to life...
Hell No
Thank you for responding! That is so sad.
