There have been more shootings so far this year in New York City than in all of 2019.

A 24-year-old man who walked bleeding into Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx on Saturday night has pushed the city’s total number of shootings this year to 777 — topping the 776 recorded in all of last year, NYPD data compiled by The Post reveals.

And it’s only the first days of August, with five more months before the year is over.

“It only gets worse from here,” warned Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

“As the shootings continue, so will retaliation. It’s a vicious cycle that the NYPD worked hard to mitigate, but that they are no longer able and in some cases willing to do.”...

"The troubling trend began in May, when the city saw a 64 percent jump in shootings during the month compared to 2019.

By the end of June, the city tallied 205 shootings — a 130 percent jump from last year." ------------------------------------------------

Well, the July numbers should be coming out in a couple of weeks. So what will they be if present trends continue? A 200% increase over last July?

I wonder how high the illegal drug traffic is going to feed all those covid weary NY smack heads?

Really???....The NYPD is totally useless...as much as useless as when I worked for the Michigan Department of State Police. The answer is: is that you have to take the "war (battle) to the enemy"...We all know this.

Shocking. Gee, once you hamstring the cops, who could have predicted the city would turn to sheet?

Has everyone noticed that any virus increases are described by breathless reporters as SPIKES or SURGES. But the huge increases in cities, all Democrat run, of murders and crime are merely “upticks”, if it’s reported at all?

When I first went to Manhattan in the early 90’s I thought “This place is bad ass and kewek”

Forward 6 years and under Guiliani the place had been cleaned up.

Disney was now on Tines Square, Hookers and sellers of fake watches were scarce, I had to go to Reed’s drug store for a diet Coke as the number of food carts had been reduced to some number I’d describe as “Just a Few “

The charm of “The Filthy City” was gone, and for the best.

You could walk around midtown and uptown without constantly being accosted by some criminal dick and the losers insisting on cleaning your windshield disappeared.

NYC became lovable and now its back to its disastrous days of being “unfun” and uncomfortable

Guiliani was too good for NYC. They never deserved him in the first place.

Looks like DeBlasio is aiming for a place in the Guiness Book of Records for becoming the murder capital of America.

I would prefer that he make that book by becoming the first major American city mayor assassinated since LaGuardia.

If he’s going to be put into the book (and ground), I would prefer it for doing something useful to the people of NYC, as in “ die”.

This guy makes Charles Manson seem sane.

I cannot go to NYC now because crime is rampant in the place I want to go and NY probably doesn’t have a CCP reciprocity agreement with my state, or any other for that matter.

Thanks CommieO, “Yes you did”!

Just like the difference between when a democrat gets ticked off and “speaks out”, but a republican “lashes out”.
