Some think the packages [of seeds marked as "jewelry"] could be part of a "brushing scam" an effort to create fake customer reviews on online retail platforms but that appears unlikely. For one thing, there is no indication these seeds there are several varieties of them are either branded or are offered for sale.
"DO NOT plant them," officials in every state have warned.
There is also an infamous statement attributed to General Chi Haotian. In a secret speech to senior Communist Party officials sometime around 2002, Chi, then the Chinese defense minister, stated there was a need for "new living space" because of the exhaustion of existing Chinese territory. Chi suggested the "mass colonization" of the land occupied by United States as the best option.
"We are not as foolish as to want to perish together with America by using nuclear weapons," he said. The way to "clean up" the U.S., Chi argued, would be through biological attacks.
[snip] Residents in all 50 states have received packages of seeds, sent unsolicited from China. Many of the packages, mailed through the Chinese state-run postal system, were mislabeled as "jewelry" for U.S. Customs purposes.
DO NOT plant them," officials in every state have warned.
"They could be invasive, meaning they may have the potential to introduce diseases to local plants, or could be harmful to livestock," the Montana Department of Agriculture noted in a statement on Monday, referring to the Chinese seeds. "Treat them like they are radioactive, like they are Kryptonite," said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller.
Trump administration officials now need to ask one question: Are the seeds a biological-warfare attack on the United States?
Well what are they, surely someone knows by now.
Maybe a lot have be planted over a widespread area in a very short amount of time for the effect to really take hold. Of course when you are willing to enter the kook fringe such scenarios are easy to dream up.
don’t plant them? I think you better not open the package and touch them.
Is merely opening the package a danger I wonder?
I made a joke about Day of the Triffids and the Chinese seeds this afternoon. Man, that was one creepy movie. The Brits had a knack for putting a bit of horror in their sci fi, didn’t they?
I hear the Chinese are calling for the return of all the pandas on “loan” to our zoos now that the “lease” is up. Dammit! They are going to take all our zoo secrets back to China, and copy our zoos! They will be flooding our market with their cheap imitation zoo animals!
I burned the package that we got. Haven't come down with any weird symptoms yet.
If China wanted to do a first strike, how hard would it be to contaminate some sort of food stock that we import in bulk with ricin? Within days of being delivered, you’d hear of COVID-19 symptoms spiking, then thousands dropping dead. It would take days to figure it out. By then you’d have killed a significant number of Americans.
You could do it fentanyl but the deaths would happen so quickly the source would be figured out and secured before too many die.
Fortunately I haven’t received any as of yet.
This should be declared a national emergency. There will always be someone who will fail to get the notices that have trickled out and plant the seeds.
“So, if you plant them where it is cold in winter I cant see a problem.”
Yep, your attitude is what will do us in. Just how in the hell do you know what is in those seeds. Do you think the Chinese Communists were prompted by Christian motives to mail them here?
Mine went into the burn barrel.
Hope a 1200 degree flame killed all the spores
Little bass turds.
No, I am saying I know citrus seeds look like.
ebay allows sellers direct from china to sell on usa ebay and ship directly from china. Super cheap but takes weeks to get here.
Alternate theory. Chinese people afraid of the three gorges dam collapsing and wiping out half or more of their food supply and hoping us nice Americans will send back food that comes from the seeds.
Makes as much sense as any other theory
When the Three Gorges Dam breaks there will be up to 400 million less mouths to feed.
What does panda taste like?
Panda tastes like Whooping Cranes
We have received 3 of these seed pkgs from China. They are marked “beads”. Opened one to see what it was and they looked like flower seeds. I didnt open the other two, just stuck them in a ziploc baggie and contacted authorities.
They’ll probably start growing more of those...
