A man captured on surveillance video smashing windows at a Minneapolis AutoZone in the wake of George Floyd’s death is a Hells Angels member bent on stirring up social unrest, police said.
Nicknamed “Umbrella Man” for his all-black getup that included a hood, gas mask and black umbrella, police said the man’s actions led to arson -- the first of several that sent peaceful protests into chaos.
Police identified the 32-year-old suspect through a tip last week. Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder told the Associated Press Tuesday he could not confirm the name of the person involved, but said the investigation remains open and active.
“This was the first fire that set off a string of fires and looting throughout the precinct and the rest of the city,” Minneapolis police arson investigator Erika Christensen wrote in a search warrant affidavit this week, according to the Star Tribune.
The riots spread to other parts of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and caused an estimated $500 million in damage. At least two people died — one a man who was fatally shot at a Minneapolis pawnshop and another whose burned body was found in the ruins of another pawnshop.

This “white supremacist” rumor has been going around before the riots even ended. He was first rumored to be a St Paul cop. I’ve noticed that the media/dem complex has circled back around to this recycled conspiracy theory. The cops are going along in an attempt to curry favor with the loons who want to get rid of them altogether.

Just a theory: They could know his name. They could know it very well. Could be the antifa spawn of someone in high places, and they can't very well just go and arrest Senator So and So's(D) son, now can they? OR it could be a deep state asset. They never get arrested either.

Council Member Steve Fletcher said the communications change is part of the larger process of examining whether functions currently handled by the Police Department could be done by someone else. Some council members also cited erroneous information given out by police after Floyd's death: In an initial statement, spokesman John Elder said Floyd “appeared to be suffering medical distress” after he resisted arrest and was handcuffed.
Cellphone video recorded by a bystander showed Floyd pleading for air as a white officer, Derek Chauvin, pressed his knee into the Black man’s neck for nearly eight minutes and people nearby urged officers to help him.
Elder has told The Associated Press that the initial description came after he was briefed by supervisors, and that he had not had time to review body camera video.

I am a frequent letter-writer to the Star Tribune. Mostly they are about my political leanings (I am the rare “out” liberal in the department). But I have written about my job before, most notably about a long-ago homicide.

Sounds about right. But I thought they said it was a peaceful and only went into chaos because of Trump of sending Federal agents?
