Beginning Thursday, hydroxychloroquine can no longer be used to treat coronavirus in Ohio.
Pharmacies, clinics and other medical institutions will be prohibited from dispensing or selling the drug to treat COVID-19, according to new regulations issued by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. It can still be used in clinical trials, said Cameron McNamee, director of policy and communications for the board.
Hydroxychloroquine has been touted by President Donald Trump despite medical studies showing the drug to be ineffective at treating the disease. The drug may also cause serious cardiac side effects, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Basically, its a patient safety issue, McNamee said. Were looking at the best science to determine whats best for the patients of Ohio.

This is an outrage of the highest order.
Lawsuits should be filed....and publicity should be given to this outrage.
This is totally ridiculous. The drug has been used for decades.
Its cheap, so I smell a rat! I smell drug company interference and probably loads of investors involved in a new very expensive drug that will be deemed as the only treatment.
Dewine will make more draconian decrees today.
I hate him.
This douche bag interrupted the final hour of Rush Limbaugh for 5 months even as Rush was fighting lung cancer, just so he could sniff his own farts daily.
I never heard of such an outrageous thing, that a “board” gets to decide what drugs you can get. The members of this “board” should be put on trial ASAP. I am sure they are not within the law on this. And, it could start a dangerous trend.

Looks like the national stockpile needs to be directly dispersed to doctors that request it.
This is TERRIBLE. The left has gone completely over the edge.
Someone I know, who is 71, was hospitalized in April with many symptoms similar to COVID-19. He was on a ventilator for 8 days. For the first 2.5 days, he was given the HCQ regimen, while they waited for his COVID test results, which were negative. He survived, and is doing very well now, health-wise. I can’t help but thing the HCQ treatments were instrumental in his recovery.
Hopefully DeWine can for sure overrule this decision by the Ohio Pharmacy Board.
Anybody know whose rule is the one with the most force in Ohio for these matters?
As others have well said - where are those who claim only a patient and their doctor can make medical decisions (such as an abortion)...........right....
Sounds like lawsuit bait to me.
State of Emergency - as we know, the Governors can basically be dictators.
It is Republican top to bottom except for some of the big city mayors.
Ohio pharmacy board bans hydroxychloroquine as coronavirus treatment
