I could not possibly disagree more; forcing face masking is the most visually degrading tactic that a government bent on tyranny can come up with; it is the ultimate in jackboot thuggery, in that we can’t possibly unsee our loss of our freedom, along with the mockery of our lost human expressiveness unless we go about with our eyes closed...
if we simply acquiesce without at least a mild, if useless, protest, what does that say about our innate spirits...?

Yeah, even places like Walmart and Target are backing off their Gestapo tactics and just ‘encouraging’ you to wear one now, or they’ll tell the teacher - I mean, the store manager. There’s been fistfights and even shootings over this nonsense.
I've only encountered about four of them, and they get swatted down severely.

I’m sure we could attempt to match anecdotes; but, on that, we shall have to agree to disagree...
A couple of suggestions. I pick up groceries at the big corporation store that’s close, and pick up milk and stuff at smaller stores when I need it. Everybody needs food and I don’t want to make people uncomfortable when I can work around it. I gotta say, ordering on line and letting some kid track it down and bring it to me is pretty sweet.
I enjoy shopping at a home improvement store. They have a corporate mask policy. I called the manager and asked about it. ‘We’re retailers, not the mask police. No one will say a thing, but please keep a distance.’ I’m only shopping in the outside flower department, so I’m relieved and feel welcome. Again, I don’t want to agitate or cause anyone an issue.
Other, smaller retailers don’t seem to care. I keep my distance and try not to stay long. On the bright side, I’ve finally got a reason to eat all the stuff in the chest freezer!
Take heart, I believe this mask hysteria will generally pass in a few weeks, and it won’t be the state ‘letting’ you take them off, either. More and more people will get tired of it and break the spell. I certainly hope so, these mask policies are bound to have a negative effect on retail shopping.
By the way, we’re in week 19 of two weeks to flatten the curve.

perhaps, and maybe the bulk of them have gone underground on here, but there are at least three that I have seen that have not only admitted, but boasted about ratting people out to managers and authorities for mask infractions...one said to me, quite plaintively ‘I’m working to save everybody...’

I am fortunate; I had my employer give me a good set-up at home. I plan on not going back to the office until I leave my desk w/out a mask.

Still haven’t seen any scientific evidence that masks do anything. Questions:
How many citizens have the masks saved?
Where is the data that without masks so many will die?
Where is any data that proves the anecdotal information being spread that the masks will prevent the spread of ‘rona.

au contraire; this is the only way the stores and businesses will allow you to enter the premises unmasked (I get that some places, like my area, are much worse than others)...Gov Wolf is going to have to announce the lifting of the mask order, or businesses around here will continue to shut you out...
On the ground report - so far not a single restaurant I have been to here in Montgomery has said a thing about not having a mask on while being seated.
