KNOXVILLE, Tenn. At first, the cheers for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz were louder than those for the man he came to stump for Friday morning, but that changed.
Cruz, R-Texas, came to Knoxville in support of Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Dr. Manny Sethi and a crowd of nearly 200 people crammed inside a dining room of the Southern Rail Station to hear from the two as Sethi attempts to go toe-to-toe with Bill Hagerty, the former U.S. ambassador to Japan.
The race has both tightened and gotten uglier in recent weeks ahead of the August 6 Election Day. Both candidates have slammed airwaves with attack ads, aimed at outdoing the others Republican, small government, against the liberals, Washington outsider-styled message.
Cruz, the popular libertarian who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2016, said Hagertys team has gone negative because theyre scared and that Sethi should take it as a compliment.
I told him, Listen, these ads, you ought to take as a compliment, Cruz said. Theyre running those ads for the same reason the government of China went after me (China recently sanctioned Cruz). Because theyre scared. The Washington swamp always tells you who theyre scared of.
Sethi acknowledged this and told his supporters to stand strong over the next few weeks, saying Hagerty would throw the kitchen sink at them in trying to win.

We voted yesterday — for Sethi. Kind of held my nose. I don’t like either of them much, but Hagerty creeps me out. I know Trump ha endorsed him, but Trump’s record of choosing good people has a lot to be desired. I trust Rand Paul and Ted Cruz over Trump when it comes to vetting candidates.
As far as Sethi’s Campaign Manager goes, I’ve learned over the years that campaign managers are basically whores going with the highest bidder. They work for one guy one year and two or four years later they’re working for who they opposed before.
I look at it this way... If Sethi proves to be what he claims to be, it will be a nice, refreshing change after so many years of wishy-washy losers. If he turns out to be a fraud and a liar, we’ll get rid of him in 6 years.
Hagerty, on the other hand, given his bad record (if he was giving money to the treasonous McQueeg as late as 2016, this is an ominous sign in addition to everything else. How this guy got through to Trump shows his vetting system is broken. The President has been way too generous with people that would (and have) backstabbed him), if he gets in the Senate, with his deep pockets, we’ll be stuck with this RINO until (at least) 2039. If we don’t have strong Conservatives in the Senate to make real change back to sanity, we’re going to be a third world war-torn $hithole by then.

What’s the deal with this asshole George Flinn? I hope he doesn’t have a chance, he sure spent a lot of money.
Relatively wealthy perpetual office-seeker from Shelby County over the past 2 decades. He did win a County Commissioner position back in 2006.
He felt he should’ve won the Congressional nomination in the 8th district in 2016. He lost to David Kustoff by 4% and never stopped running, and had a grudge match against him in 2018, and lost by 16% (though his margin increased from 23% in ‘16 to 40% in ‘18).
He ran in the 9th as well in 2012, but only got 24% against the execrable Cohen. If the district wasn’t so nutty and dysfunctional, Flinn would be a good fit there. He also ran for the Senate in the 2014 primary against an unpopular Lamar! (who was held to 49.65% of the vote), but just like with the present race, he only got a paltry 5% of the vote, as the race was between Lamar! and State Rep. Joe Carr. I expect Flinn will probably score between 5-10%, if that.
My concern is how many votes will he take away from Sethi. It wouldn’t be good if Hagerty wins by a narrow plurality because of him.
We’ll see, but I doubt he’s having much of an impact. All that money he spent in 2014 got him 5%. Lamar! is lucky we didn’t have a runoff that year or Joe Carr would’ve beaten him. Carr hardly had any money, but had a grassroots effort going that was growing by the day. Sethi has apparently a decent amount of money and grassroots.
White? You are the southerner. I was born 56 miles from Montreal. You assumed Omaha was all insurance. Try Union Pacific, Warren Buffet, Simons (Omaha Steaks) etc. Your profile makes you appear very young. BTW you ever serve in the military? When? I’ve been having to fight leftists for most of my life, beginning with my own family, and I had no one to back me up, save God.
