Walmart will require face coverings in all of its stores across the country starting on July 20.
Mandatory masks for customers will be enforced by employees upon entrances at more than 5,000 Walmart and Sam's Club stores, the company announced on Wednesday.
"As the number of confirmed cases has spiked in communities across the country recently, so too have the number and types of face covering mandates being implemented," wrote the retailer's Chief Operating Officer Dacona Smith in a blog post. "Currently about 65 percent of our more than 5,000 stores and clubs are located in areas where there is some form of government mandate on face coverings. To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20. This will give us time to inform customers and members of the changes, post signage and train associates on the new protocols."
The blog post also mentioned that stores will now have a single entrance, and Sam's Club associates will "politely" remind members "of our requirement to wear a face covering when shopping with us. Complimentary masks will be provided if the member doesnt have one. Or members can purchase masks in the club."
The company has already taken other measures to help protect public health, including using markers to indicate 6 feet of social distancing for customers and increasing sanitizing and cleaning efforts.
Cases of the coronavirus have increased across the country, with more than 3 million people in the United States infected by the virus, and nearly 140,000 people have died.

Guess I just did my last shopping there...
As long as you only breath "in" through your nose and "out" through your mouth, correct. Of course, you forego any protective effect for yourself in so doing. Other people, of course, have no way to know you are doing so, and just think you're an ignorant dumbass who doesn't know how to properly use a mask.
Now, WHY exactly, is it so hard for you to wear and use a mask properly?
Yet more stores to avoid...
We live in fascist Bizarro world.
Draconian Smith?
We are in the middle of ths biggest Post Hoc ergo Propter Hoc fallacy ever seen.
We must feed the sheep their fare: yet more paranoia and fear. We must identify the non-sheep.
This has very little to do with public health and a lot to do with liability. Some virtue signalling, but mostly liability. Walmart probably employs about a million people in it’s stores and is one of the biggest employers in america. More than that, it’s also been open through this entire pandemic and making cash and has deep pockets. It’s going to be one of the biggest targets for ambulance chasers trying to make a quick buck off of perceived negligence or lax rules causing infections.
If there’s another pandemic stimulus bill, liability waivers has to be a part of it. Trump was right to call for liability protection months ago, and this is one example of what happens without it.
Looks like much ado about nothing much at this store.

What happens if you don’t wear a mask?
Some people, right here on FR, want you named, shamed, fined and your location posted on social media.
I kid you, not.
That’s fine. I do not need to shop at Walmart.
Local meat shop has specials and the garden in doing great. Coffee comes by USPS.
there is no protective effect for you or others in wearing a politically correct snot rag
I would imagine the Walmart “Enforcers” will physically stop you from entering. Maybe the employees will descend on you and gang beat you like an Antifa mob at the entrance. I’d love to see how they train their, “Enforcers”.
Amazon is next. They’re going to use the built in camera on your device, and won’t process your order unless you’re wearing a mask.
Stupidity beyond stupidity.
Then you don’t shop there. Their store, their rules. I don’t agree with what they’re doing, but they’re certainly entitled to make the rule.
Thank God the Meijer just opened up... Good bye wally world
I’ll make one more Walmart run before the 20th and then I won’t go there until this is over.
