Trump may intervene in case of St. Louis couple wielding guns at protesters, Missouri governor said

The governor of Missouri says President Trump has promised to "do everything he could within his powers" to shield a St. Louis couple who wielded guns at protesters in their gated community from prosecution, even as an attorney for the client says charges are imminent.

Gov. Mike Parson said he spoke to Trump Tuesday and was reassured that the president-- who previously has retweeted a photo of the couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey holding up guns in front of their house in the June 28 incident--"understands the situation in Missouri."

"He understands the situation in St. Louis and how out of control it is for a prosecutor to let violent criminals off and not do their job and try to attack law-abiding citizens," Parson said at a press conference.

“President Trump should not side-step the Governor.”

Agreed. He should, however, strongly encourage him to issue said pardon.

Today.

Trump could direct the DOJ to charge and arrest the circuit attorney, the judge and the police chief on denial of rights under color of law.

I seriously doubt that. Has that ever been done?

Civil rights ARE a Federal issue. That is WELL ESTABLISHED in case law. Your opinion of the 10th Amendment would NOT be in view of any court trying this case.

It’d be real simple to bring charges against the city DA...

I think anyone with Soros connections has done things that would subject them to legitimate Federal prosecution - it’s just a matter of Barr being willing to play that card.

Seems to be a condition of our times. Too many governors of both parties expecting POTUS to clean-up all of their messes for them.

how come the republican governor of MO doesn’t intervene? It couldn’t be that he’s too cowardly to do so, could it?

Probably not, but what does that have to do with Trump claiming he will intervene is something he has no authority over?

Exactly, why does Trump have to get involved. Furthermore, this is a state charge, not federal.

The Governor of Missouri does not the President to step in. The Governor can grow a pair and dismiss this case of injustice and malfeasance!

There may be times when it is appropriate for President Trump to engage federal powers into otherwise local or state legal matters.

The only thing good about Fox News is they have a few good opinion shows. Actually, their opinion shows report more real news than their so-called news division. Most of the time, their news division simply regurgitates the DNC talking points. I gave up on Fox long ago, switching over to OANN.

Lurker: “The Governor can issue a blanket pardon today.”
ought-six: "Yes, he can. Maybe he hasn’t much of a spine."

Or maybe he wants to bury this feckless Soros-boosted Persecutor, and wants to wait for her to keep catering to the MOB. What statues / legalities / felonies will this couple be charged with breaking? Why were the weapons confiscated before the charges being levied? Is there a Grand Jury working on this or is it her department of just-us?

In short, there are reasons to allow the process to continue if no one is yet jailed. The closer to Election Day the more potential mud to sling and stick to the LEFT!

Missouri gun laws totally back up the McKlosky’s actions. The Prosecutor has no grounds for charges. Barr needs to get in her face. Trump has already sent private security guards to the people’s house.

President Trump should not side-step the Governor.

He should know that and it will be interesting to see if he does.

We can bet someone has a still photo out of a video taken at the site that shows the homeowners "pointing" a weapon at one or more of the rioters or waving it in their general direction. The sound track indicates repeated serious warnings to leave.

In defense of a "brandishing" charge, the issue may be whether a MO homeowner has such a legal right to do so in the face of a trespasser who has caused damage, who refuses to leave and who threatens more damage. In this regard, it will be interesting to know what was depicted on the signs carried by the rioters.

The constant thymic use of a militant drum by the rioters ought to also be relevant. "Peaceful" my a$$.

That’s all great but there are two real people here being punished by process. And that cannot be allowed to stand.

You’d sing a different tune of this were happening to you or yours.

Mr President,

ORDER AG Barr to assign a US ATTORNEY to the case to Investigate and Prosecute the DA for Conspiracy to Deprive someone of their Rights under the Color of Law.
