There are two key takeaways from the outcome of Tuesdays primaries in Alabama, Maine and Texas.
First, the big winner of the night was President Trump. Several Trump-backed candidates defeated their opponents and unquestionably benefited significantly from the presidents support. The most notable of these was former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville, who defeated former senator and attorney general Jeff Sessions for the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama. Tuberville will face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, considered a highly vulnerable incumbent.
Second, Democratic primary results show the party is deeply divided, complicating the Democrats path to winning majority control of the Senate and defeating Trump in the November election.

The moral of this story is never hire a Senator for anything. The Senate is far too corrupt and corrupting to leave anybody untainted.
He is. Many people around here refused to believe it, because it's too depressing to think about. They need hope. If Barr is a worm, the hope rainbow melts.
Sticking our heads in the sand, however, is never a good option.
I read a story last week that Trump told Barr "You've broken your sword on this one" in regards to Trump commuting the sentence of Roger Stone. Barr KNEW that Stone was persecuted, that the judge and jury forewoman were hopelessly compromised and biased, and that the FBI had acted atrociously in the case.
But Barr didn't care. He called Stone's persecution and prosecution "righteous" in the media.
Has Trump finally woken up? Who knows.
I'll say this: I find it highly doubtful that Barr is secretly working to round up the Deep State (including Obama, Soros, and Hillary), put them in chains, fly them to Gitmo, and have them tried by military officers who will serve as jurors. That hope is one of the foundations of Q Anon, and adhered to by many people. Hey, I would like to see that as well. But it's never going to happen.
To update the graphic below, Barr has now been Attorney General for 517 days.
AMEN!! Except for very few.
One needs a conscience in order to “be nervous”.
Alabamas other Senator is that establishment hack and former Democrat Richard Shelby, so it sounds like we have a good idea where Alabama voters stand.
Good night for Trump. We should have a great night in November.
How long until the traitor Sessions announces he running as an Independent candidate?
Would not put it past the snake turd to do that, he is that type.
Makes one believe that going full-throttle after the Deep State is the equivalent of pulling the pin on a hand grenade duct taped to your face.
Hope Sessions doesn’t try to pull a Bolton.
Highly doubtful?
That is insane. We are not in a shooting war (yet).
It would make all the strategic sense in the world for Biden to run to the center now, only he can’t. The radicals in his party would eat his lunch if he even tried. He is little more than a sock puppet for the Berniebots at this point and it’s doubtful he could comprehend a moderation strategy even if he wanted to.
I’ll be kind to Jeffy the Elf and say that after so many years in the D.C. bubble he had become oblivious to reality. I mean he got the AG job and his first priority was to try and tamp down states legalizing cannabis. Seriously, he was choosing to die on THAT hill?
The fact that he reported went to Trump FOUR TIMES and begged for the job is really disturbing.
Maybe once and for all that low-life will slug(Sessions) his way back to Alabama and retire. For all the Session supportersTell Jeff that he NEVER turns like he did against Trump.
Now Sessions can go do something that doesn’t involve betrayal, like say, shuffleboard.
This might be one of those rare times where a Dem assumes the moderates will vote with them and they need to shore up their left flank . . . but in November they’ll find out what Robbie Mook did too in 2016, they AIN’T AS SMART AS THE THINK.
Interpreted: The Rats need to be even more phony than they usually are to overcome their radical left faction that they have created and cultivated.
It may be a win for Trump but likely is a loss for Trumpism.
Whatever his faults as AG, Sessions would likely be the more Trumpian senator (he was the first office holder to support Trump, and did so strongly and clearly). Tuberville’s history is a lot less less clear.
If (when?) we get amnesty it is probable that Tuberville will be one of the Yes votes.
Yup. Figured he was blackmailed
Color him gone
I love it when things start to come together. Hope this means momentum will continue to build.
