A King County, Washington, Superior Court Judge has approved a petition for a recall election for Democrat Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.
The Seattle Times reported that the Friday ruling over Durkans recent handling of police brutality can proceed, allowing petitioners to start getting enough signatures to get the recall measure on the ballot.
KOMO reported that the plaintiffs behind the petition would have to collect 50,000 signatures before an election can be held.
The Durkan petitioners recall effort accuses Durkan of endanger(ing) the peace and safety of the community by allowing the police to leak false information about fabricated crimes and threats to the media and putting a citywide curfew in place without giving advance notice to the public.
The petitioners also accused the mayor of restricting certain property rights in the neighborhoods of Capitol Hill, where many protests occurred, and downtown Seattle.
A spokesperson for the mayors office on Saturday rejected these claims, saying the mayor consistently has acted to protect the Citys public health and safety and to respect the constitutional rights to peaceful protesters.
The petitioners filed seven charges against Durkan, but of those charges, only one of them was applicable to support the recall election the use of tear gas and other chemical agents against rioting in the streets that erupted in Seattle during the protests and over George Floyds death in May.
Seattle Police used pepper spray and flash bangs to stop the riots in Seattle, which had been going on for days since Floyds death.
The recall effort is called the Fire the Mayor campaign.

what’s the matter she’s not leftist enough?
Won’t make a difference.
Another far-left democrat will take her place, and then, more of the same.
Seattle might as well be Venezuela, or Hong Kong. Gone to hell.
p
Someone even farther left will replace her. She is considered a moderate by Seattle standards.
Do you suppose they (the citizens) are wanting to recall her because she’s not liberal/bat shat crazy enough?
Just confirming.
There is no Juliani available for the voters in Seattle, nor even in NYC, or anywhere else that liberals made sure that they were in control. It’s going to take a miracle to turn any of those liberal cities around.
The petition for recall was NOT signed by the majority of voters in Seattle, therefore, they’ll get another liberal just like the one that MAY get recalled. She’s not out yet, and may not be.
Just too many wackos in La La land for this to have a chance.
The petition for recall was NOT signed by the majority of voters in Seattle,
Outside signatures?
Then....it will be null and void?

True dat. Durkan is probably the least left of anyone in Seattle government. Look at the troubles Trump has in trying to herd cats in D.C.
But remember when she criticized Trump and said it was a summer of love. Trump curse.
The aches and pains suffered by the city of Seattle are deserved. The people have opted for anarchy and it has bitten them in the a$$! I hope the pain lasts for a long time.
No sympathy in this quarter. I won’t go there again.
Last time, I stayed at the “Edgewater,” cool place but still in Seattle. Columbia Tower Club? Nice views but never again. Pike Street Market? You can have your Gooey Duck Clams, I’ll stay home!
Thanks....will be interesting to see if this even takes off.
Sad state of affairs, all the way around.

Thanks.
You're welcome. It's very good.
Ah, the famous Edgewater! Where the Mighty Led Zepplin fished from their room’s bayside windows and used the catch to create new and unusual tricks..... with their gal pals!
From the excerpt, this recall effort has been mounted because she’s not left-wing enough.
