A Black Lives Matter-supporting teacher took to Twitter to assert that 2+2 only = 4 because of “western imperialism.”
Yes, really.
Brittany Marshall’s tweet went viral after she claimed during the course of a discussion about racism, “Nope the idea of 2 + 2 equaling 4 is cultural and because of western imperialism/colonization, we think of it as the only way of knowing.”
Marshall, who includes her pronouns in her bio, lists her occupation as “teacher, scholar, social justice change agent” and apparently is studying for a PhD at Rutgers.
Her bizarre statement is yet another example of Intersectionality, the pseudo-intellectual garbage feminist notion taught in all major universities that racism and sexism are prevalent throughout all areas of society and are intertwined.
In this case, Marshall appears to be arguing that maths itself is racist, an argument that has been made by numerous social justice warriors down the years, some of whom question why ‘Western Math’ is in common use and not other methods such as the way Aborigines count (maybe because we’re western and not Aborigine).
The notion that 2+2 might not = 4 is of course lifted from George Orwell’s 1984, when the one party state was able to torture dissidents into believing it could equal 5. Respondents to the tweet expressed their varied opinions.
“Unfortunately it’s nothing new,” remarked one. “There are videos circulating showing black students promoting to stop science because it represents white supremacy. They would prefer magic and voodoo.”
“Scary thing is, this person is a teacher probably preaching the same nonsense to our children,” said another.
As anyone who has taken Anthropolgy 101, for many primitive cultures, 2+2= “many”.
Never, ever put somebody like this in charge of anything important.
And NEVER accept a doctor of color.
Reminds me of how the mermaid always stayed underwater because she never got her algebra, but I digress.

To be fair, I seem to remember that most early cultures with a language had words for up to the number 20 (meaning they could count on their fingers and toes), and then had a word meaning 'a bunch' for anything larger. I know this is true in "early" Japanese, which had words for 1 (hitotsu) to 20 (hatachi), though later obtaining a more expansive number alphabet from the Chinese, via the Koreans.
That reminds me, however, of how when the man who discovered the zero was praised for his work, he is said to have replied that it was nothing.
In her case this stands for Pure Horse Dung.....
2+2 = whatever you want it to be.
I have an engineering degree from Rutgers. If they grant a PhD to someone who asserts that 2+2 does not equal 4, I may need to disavow that degree. I mean, nobody will think it's much of a credential anymore anyway so why not?

I have no aspirations to transform the west into a primitive culture. Apprantly lefty social justice warriors think that it's easier to tear down the west than it is to elevate the people they claim to represent. Because leftists are bigots who ensnare minorities in a trap of unending poverty by convincing them that the low expectations leftists have of them are correct and they really are lesser.

All of our white scientists and mathematicians would not have been abe to land astronauts on the Moon without Black math. Remember that, Hollywood history is the real history, racists.
Let’s see ...without white math we will have: planes that fall out of the sky, medicines that don’t work, research that won’t prove anything .....buildings that would topple, bridges that would collapse .... cars that won’t drive, electricity, running water .....basically, no civilization.

It’s almost as if these people really want to keep black people stupid, and at a disadvantage.

Ya’ think? It’s too bad these “People-Of- color” groups ( did I use the proper PC term approved for 2020?) cheerfully promote the insanity which will keep them in poverty and inner city turmoil instead of standing up for their people to have choices for excellent education.
