Young Americans are seriously lacking in knowledge of what the July 4 holiday means, a new video released by Campus Reform reveals.
But they are fully capable of "bleating about how the country is racist," a report on the video explains.
See the man-in-the-street interviews done by Campus Reform:
But it was at Summit News that the criticism was leveled.
"Young Americans displayed a complete lack of knowledge about the 4th July holiday, instead bleating about how the country is racist," the commentary said. "When asked what the holiday commemorates and other details concerning the Declaration of Independence, most of those interviewed had no clue."
In fact, some guesses included that the U.S. gained its independence during the Civil War, or World War I, or even World War II.
One student justified the level of familiarity with history, stating, "I just know that teachers do not want to teach it."
One opinion was, "America was built off of slavery."
And of course President Trump was cited by one as proof that the country is racist.
There were a lot of guesses for when the U.S. got its independence: 1967, 1859, 1964, 197-something, 1864 and one who got close, 1777.

My son says we will have to kill half of his generation to save the country.
Obama was never eligible.
He is not a natural born citizen.
Both parties assisted him in violating the Constitution.
And still it’s not enough........
oh well
Bleating is correct. They’re like sheep, not even researching what they’re told. They want only to be part of the herd mentality so that they’ll fit in and be popular, and hating America is what they think they must do.
and stumping on a Flag changes what ? You’re very lucky to be living in the United States
This will be a start and helpfull:

That’s a rather strange and alarming statement.
There is probably much truth to it.
Japan is having a similar experience with it’s youth.
A small group of their young are said to actively fear direct contact and confrontation with other people, preferring to encounter the world only via computer.
They have ZERO clue what oppression is other than what the lamestream tells them. And the libcrats POS politicians. Child abuse much?
The Jesse Watters interviews were also instructive in their time. Young and not so young people are really STUPID!
And how much is spent every year on NOT educating them? SMDH!
I have mentioned this before, and got yelled at. But Im gonna mention it again.
One should be quite wary of street interviews like this one. And thats because it is easy to cherry-pick the answers in order to give the impression you want.
Maybe 100 people could answer some easy question correctly, while 10 do not. If you just show those 10 people, you get an interesting video, but one that is rather disingenuous.
So who knows whats really going on here?
Our youth have been indoctrinated by public schools and colleges and media for their entire lives to hate our country.
You are spot on.
Our exceedingly expensive education system is a disgrace.
Well I won’t yell at you because we should all know how the cherry picking goes at times. But, to a lot of “educators” all that history stuff is in the past and best ignored. Sad huh?
Last night Watters asked this young white guy, “What was the year of the American Revolution?”. He thought for a few seconds and said, “1984?”
Why not teach “why Satanism is a good thing” in universities. It’s has the same destructive effect as Marxism. There has been a conceited and false way of thinking by conservatives that they (the students ) will get over their passionate affair with Marxism. This is patently wrong. You just have to look at the likes of Bill DeBlasio or Bernie Sanders to know that this is wrong.
The country has become infected by stupidity, ignorance and Marxism. Will it require to severe a limb like California or Washington to the Marxists to get the proper treatment? The infection has spread to almost every campus in the US. But this is old news. What should be good new is a way to rid the country of this scourge, this leprosy on the body politic. Nothing concrete or fast is being proposed and the patient is in a listless, riotous state between life and death.

No doubt! The Left is actively trying to destroy Western civilization. My point is not that this isnt happening. My point is that street interviews are an unreliable way of showing that.
Quick story. I have decades of experience teaching in urban public high schools. And about 15 years ago a ruling came down from our central administration: US History will no longer be a required course. It can be replaced by African History or World History.
Well, the history teachers were furious! But their protests fell on deaf ears. That ruling stands to this day.
Unfortunately, your son is probably correct. The crap they have been taught and the confusion they have would be as difficult to reverse as deprogramming a Moonie. They believe a random assortment of things but almost all of them are just flat wrong. What is more, they believe them with a fervor that is almost inconceivable and certainly irreconcilable.
The other problem is that it is not just one generation in such a state, it is at least three of them plus some of the boomers and certainly late boomers.
Sadly, I believe that we are done for. Our present problems are not recoverable within any reasonable amount of time or effort and we don’t have any plan to even begin the process. The school curriculum is the place to start ending the damage but what of the millions already out of school who are so far gone? Soon there will not be any people left to do the deprogramming.
Reagan’s maxim will come true.
Quite valid and does need to be pointed out. Yet can you argue that this series of vignettes appears to be unexpected or discordant to the average young adult of today? The reason it resonates is that we have learned that these youths are not so much educated as indoctrinated by their teachers.
What I would love is to have the same format and ask a set of deeper questions;
1. Specify a racist act in this country that is legal and supported by a majority of the population.
2. Name another country that you feel is less racist?
3. Was this country more or less racist in the past?
4. Which is a better choice; A) praising our country for its accomplishments while striving for improvement or B) damning and destroying its history for its faults?
Such an interview, even edited, would be far more informative, at least to me!
