We already had a bunch of fireworks at straight up midnight. Of course it’s illegal, but you know how that goes.
Let me repeat that!!
WOOHOO! You guys got to get out to the lake.
And you finished your tree trimming! Good job.
I could see some of the fireworks on the airport cam, even though it was still daylight. Some were pretty darn big. My kind of folks! The bigger, the better. LOL
I stepped outside earlier to check out the moon and could hear some smaller ones being fired off in the distance. I guess folks are saving the big stuff for tomorrow night ..... er, later tonight. I didn’t think there would be a city fireworks show this year but it looks like they decided to go ahead with it. Other towns close by cancelled theirs. I can see Winchester’s fireworks from the hill across the road, as well as those shot off all over the county. It’s quite a view and quite a show each year.
Hey...it’s finally dark! And I am off to bed.
Rest well when you get there.
Enjoy your fireworks on the hill later today.
I’m like one of those dandelions that’s hard to kill :-)

Hey, there! The whole world has gone crazy! LOL! But we WILL overcome!
Have a Happy Independence Day. I started to ask if you’d been to Harpoon Larry’s but then I remembered that you moved. LOL!

“We have a few ancient pear trees”
I think that what you are describing are what we used to call, “cooking pear trees.” They are light green and stat green. They have no taste but when cooked get sweet. Even as children we used to ‘steal’ them from the neighbors’ trees so that our moms could cook them and make pear pies. ;-)
And, ofcourse, as stupid kids we used to eat them right off of the tree! LOL
I forgot to name the plants in the flower garden.....in no particular order and as I remember the names:
01. ) Gardenia
02. ) Mandevilla
03. ) Mariposa Mariposa, ( Butterfly, ) is a plant similar to canon lilly but the flower is as white as white can be and, curiously, the flower is shaped suspiciously like a butterfly's wings. Most Cubans think that the Mariposa is native to Cuba but in reality it was imported from India a very long time ago.
04. ) Climbing Rose Bush
05. ) Lantana
06. ) Piscuala
07. ) Hibiscus
08. ) Three other plants whose names I have forgotten.
Yes, Hubby’s aunt called them cooking pear trees too. But she said they were only good for cooking because you could add sugar.
They’re so old now they look pretty pitiful but they still bear pears. Since the critters and birds enjoy getting drunk on them so much, we let the trees stay until a bad storm takes one out. We have three left at this point.

Oh, you do not know what you are missing. You should cook them then make pear pies! They are WONDERFUL! ;-)
Our neighbor had one and I would pick up all of the pears which would fall in our yard. The new neighbor cut the tree down. I have never forgiven her for that! ;-)
Thanks, unique.
