The state on Friday reported a total of 2,903 deaths -- the same number it reported on Thursday. The health department said in a note posted on its website that “technical issues” with the reporting database the state uses to track the COVID-19 data resulted in the state reporting an incorrect number of deaths in Thursday’s report.
“We regret the inconvenience these technical issues have caused,” the statement said.
A health department spokeswoman said the correct number of deaths reported Thursday should have been 2,886, an increase in 10 deaths from Wednesday.
Another 17 deaths were reported Friday.

On a positive note, it appears the governor is going to defer to county and city officials regarding decisions about lockdowns and masks. I guess that is positive.

I wonder if the fact that the Ohio Department of Health is now headed, albeit on an interim basis, by an attorney, the lead council for the department, has anything to do with DeWine's new approach.

Sorry but since everyone continues to commingle infectious and non infectious test results and inflate deaths by adding any death no matter the real COD as Covid if the person tested positive as well as just a WAG as to whether a person had Covid I just don’t believe any of this.

Funny thing is that DeWine was stricter than Wolf in PA and now Ohio is doing worse than PA in rising cases. Almost like the shutdown was worthless! Sad state of affairs when Sweden values liberty more than United States here
Can’t speak for the rest of the state, but in Cleveland, there are two groups of people there.
1) The germophobic hermits, who won’t leave their house without a full hazmat suit.
2) The “blockheads”, who are crowding the bars and the beaches as if nothing is different than last summer.
I’m not there, but I have family in both groups. The people in group 1 won’t go anywhere near the people in group 2. Not even if they are sitting outside getting some sun while sitting 20 or 30 feet apart.
Then again, we live under Warden Gruesome in CA, where you can go to church but not sing, go to the beach if you can walk there, and not taste wine except at his personal winery in Napa.

I noticed PA is near the bottom in tests done.
.truth is, if you are dying of CHF your body can PICK UP the virus easily...
.that doesn't mean you died from covid....no more than a cancer patient dies from mouth thrush following rad/chemo treatments....
