AP) – North Carolina’s governor has ordered people across the state to wear masks or other face coverings in public to fight the spread of COVID-19.
Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order Wednesday that people must wear face coverings in public when it’s not possible to maintain physical distance.
The order also mandates masks or other face coverings for employees of businesses including retailers and restaurants, as well as state employees in the executive branch.
Violations of Cooper’s executive orders are punishable by misdemeanor.

Sure, but outdoors even if you aren’t 6 feet apart, it still doesn’t seem to spread very well. For instance, children at a playground. There’s no evidence supporting the idea that they’re transmitting this virus in that situation, but kids run around and bump into one another at playgrounds because that’s what kids do. Especially the little guys (under 10) aren’t going to keep 6 feet apart from each other, but it doesn’t really matter. There’s zero scientific backing for masks in that situation.
A politician who knows what’s best for everyone.
Question: considering that around 35% of people with COVID-19 show no symptoms, how would you know if you’re infected with it? Even if you’ve been tested, that’s no guarantee you haven’t picked it up since the testing was done.
Around a third of people who have had COVID-19 would be surprised to learn that fact. They were definitely walking around infected for a period of time with no indication of sickness.
I’m glad I have zero reasons to go to NC these days.
I believe if there are no exemptions based on disability the order is in violation of ADA.
“Disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment.”
There is also the matter of those who have health conditions which are aggravated by fully covering the nose and mouth with a mask. Especially if it is properly applied allowing for no gaps.
You’re kidding yourself. This is going to go on for at least another 4 1/2 months.

I live in what used to be a very red county north of Atlanta. (It’s still red, but liberals are moving in by the truckload due to our excellent schools). Anyway, there is a very loud & strident group here that’s petitioning our county commissioners for a mask mandate. Most of us have been telling them we’re vehemently opposed to more government dictates. I expect they’re going to get it eventually, because they just won’t shut up. They are begging the county for this. I think I need to move further into the mountains...

Yay, dystopia is here. Wait until you see the idiotic things people will be calling masks soon. One of my favorites is the crocheted model. More air space than coverage so as not to impede breathing.

Last time I checked, if you are going to charge someone, you need a violation of a law to charge them.
