Georgia state lawmakers have approved the first-ever hate crime bill put forward by state Senate Republicans Monday, after a deal was reached removing protections for police officers.

“We have a long history in Georgia of embedded discrimination. We can’t deny it. We can’t run from it, but we can change it,” state Sen. Bill Cowsert, a Republican legislator, said Monday. “I heard someone say, ‘If you stand idly by and tolerate hatred and discrimination, you are part of the problem’.”

The bill, which is now headed to Gov. Brian Kemp's desk for signature, would institute harsher penalties for hate crimes.

Riot for three weeks, and the republicans pass the laws the rioters demand. Wonder what lesson the rioters learned?

Hate is not a crime. Hate is an emotion.

Killing, beating etc are crimes.

The joke’s on them (Republicans.) It will not placate the rioting anarchists, but only make them angrier. Why don’t they get that?

Wait until this November. The GOP will disappear from the majority, maybe for good. With little to no push-back from politicians and citizens, I see no other path.

One that you and I learned decades ago.

We are as much on the plantation for our party,
as blacks are for the demonicRats.

Their promises aren't worth bupkis.

IE..if you defend yourself against a protected person and you have a social media post that shows you’re a conservative you’ll be charged with a hate crime.

Blacks? Oh they can get in a mob and beat down any white person they see and *CRICKETS*

You know, it's with mixed thought that I contemplate that.

Yes, the Republicans in Washington, D. C. are worthless.

Worthless is still better than treacherous.

If we were to lose the House and Senate, Trump would get
next to nothing done. Now as bad as the Republicans were
in helping Trump, they didn't have the full blown
demonicRat agenda in their dreams...

“Equal protection under the law?”

Do you get the feeling that not only we don’t have equal protection under the law, but no law, or rule of law.

they’re going to pay in November. I hate to say it but they will. They have an opportunity to stand up against all this violence and tearing up of statues and BLM as a political movement. Instead they’re quiet or kissing ass.

With trump coming out with a “very generous” stimulus, we know who is in charge anyway. Sounds like classic pelosi strategy to throw other people’s money at people getting paid to sit at home.
Its for the cildren.. even if their children’s children’s children have to pay for it.

As it already has been used this way, of course that’s what will happen. Just think when a DEM gets to be governor of Georgia.
