On Fathers Day 2008, candidate Barack Obama made his most honest speech on race, maybe his only halfway honest speech on race. The media barely noticed.
The site was the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago. From the pulpit Obama spoke to the gathered voters -- excuse me, congregants -- with uncharacteristic audacity. He reminded his audience that too many black fathers were missing from too many homes. He knew something of the phenomenon himself given that his father left us when I was two years old. Yes, that con again.
Putting aside for a moment his personal story, however fictitious, Obama made the traditionally conservative argument that fatherless children were five times more likely to grow up poor, nine times more likely to drop out of school, and twenty times more likely to get into serious trouble than children who grow up with both parents.
Those absentee fathers, Obama scolded, have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it. In that it was Obama who made this argument -- not, say, Dan Quayle -- the mainstream media reported the speech uncritically.
Progressives, however, were uneasy about Obama giving voice to what one wag called his inner Cosby, and no progressive more so than Jessie Jackson. Even in a whisper, Jackson made his voice heard.
For all of Obamas politically conscious life, Jacksons had been the face of the American civil rights movement. From the moment Jackson descended on Chicago in April 1968 wearing a shirt allegedly drenched in Martin Luther King Jr.s blood -- Obama was six at the time -- he showed that a movement leader with sufficient charisma and media access need not overly worry about the truth.

Boy is that saying a mouthful considering Jimmy Carter’s days.
And Lyndon Johnson who effectively gave us the welfare state we have today with his “projects”. He did say he would have blacks voting Democrat for 50 years.
Definitely three of the worst.
Barry Soetoro was never eligible to be President under our Constitution.
He will never be more than an usurper.
Jesse had no desire for peace...he wanted the money and power.
Well, he didn't use the word blacks.
I know. But I don’t want to get kicked off the site :-)
LBJ was all about himself. He wanted a legacy (boy did he ever get one).
Bammy did and still does hate this country. I think everything he did in office illustrated that.
But, recall that it was Michelle who was first attending Jeremiah Wright's "church". She brought bammy to that building. And then when Wright's positions became to hot politically bammy dropped him like a bad habit.
I hear ya!
Most dissappointing is how I would caracterize it.....mostly to blacks....he did nothing for them!!!!Worst prsident without a doubt was FDR....he brought socialism permanently to us and single handidly crushed our economy for years while he premoted his “New Deal”.
She’s an atom. I guess Obama was directly traitorous.
Thank God his narcissism and love of being loved Captain busy at least half the time or he would have done more damage.
Isn’t it ironic that it’s not under him that statues are being torn down and mobs are burning the streets and everyone is terrified to say anything in the media without losing their jobs.
Trump has been great for the country I have not seen anything he’s done that would cause a revolution. It’s a media built narrative helped by the deep State and higher education and folks like George Soros.
And incredibly silent these days Republicans.
That dishonor goes to James Bucanhan who brought us the First Democrat-Republican War. Second goes to FDR for his vast Unconstitutional expansion of the Federal government. Third goes to Taft, who got the ball rolling for the income tax amendment which effectively eviscerated the rest of the Constitution by making slaves out of all of us.
Maybe folks have forgotten every drop of American blood shed in the middle east is all Jimmy Carter. What short memories freedom lovers have.
I think LBJ used the “N” word, and said they’d be voting D for 200 years.
I personally think he was worse than Obama.
Or at least tied. You are correct.
“Definitely three of the worst.”
Can we agree on a three-way tie for worst?

Yes :)
