"You can't really reform a department that is rotten to the root. What you can do is rebuild," Rep. Ilhan Omar explains her calls to defund the police departments. "No one is saying crimes will not be investigated."

Great question!! Democrats are immune from prosecution. There are two standards of justice. They get the perks. We don’t.
Any particular reason your violating FR rules?
Ilhan Omar: “Rotten To The Root,”
I don’t think its simply PC mandates... something is definitely wrong within the Minneapolis PD... George Floyd is not the first outrageous incident out of there.
You can’t blame PC nonsense when cops completely ignore their training and procedures, and do it so brazenly as what happened to Mr Floyd. (and many other incidents prior to this going back years)
There is something rotten in that PD, no, I am not saying it’s all cops there, but something is wrong, majorly wrong in that department. When 4 cops can just completely ignore all their training, and even after the suspect is completely unconscious, none of the other 3 cops ever tell the cop kneeling on the suspect, buddy, that’s enough... Something is wrong.
It won’t be fixed by more training, if they just ignore it anyway. It won’t be fixed by more funding, or less funding... What it appears to the outsider like myself is that there seems to be a lack of accountability... and that’s a systemic problem. I don’t know if the Minneapolis PD as they now exist can be fixed.... If this were an isolated incident you could say bad cop(s).. but this isn’t.. not from that department.
I do think that it’s possible that the entire department may need to be disbanned and a new one started. This has been done before, in smaller cities with corruption and performance issues.. but its not what the “defund the police” crowd is demanding, they disband the pd and created a new one all in a few minutes with the new one bringing over some but not all officers from the original force.
I don’t know what the answer is, but there is honestly no way anyone looking at what’s happened repeatedly out of that city, and not conclude there are systemic long term problems in that department.
Rotten To The Root is something that Omar is herself.
“.... if we have a department that’s led by a chief who’s suited for racism,...”
And that’s the problem. The people commenting on this, are so worried about race, they forget crime. According to Neighborhood Scout, a company that rates everything from public schools to crime in cities around the US, the city is rated only 4% safer than other cities in the US because of the amount of convicted and perpetuated crime it has. That tells me they have a far greater problem with crime, not race if the crimes are convicted. And if the convictions display a great disparity with race, they need to find out why one race is accomplishing more crime than another. The police only arrest them, they don’t convict them. That has nothing to do with the cops except the proof of the pudding. If the conviction rate was low, that would display what they people are trying to prove from their accusations about the cops. Sorry, numbers don’t lie.

She wants to replace the Minneapolis PD with Somali warlords.
The point is, the PC mandates drove good people away from wanting to be cops, the professionalism has clearly suffered over time.
All paths in blue states lead to the cliff.
Again, I wouldn’t try to blame what’s happening in Minneapolis on PC crap... There have always been bad cops... they long predate the obsession with PC nonsense.
The issue with Minneapolis is that it appears, there is something far more than a rogue bad cop or two.
There certainly could be a case made for PC having a role in the shooting there of the woman who called the cops and was shot by them.
However, the overall situation in that department seems broken.. there have been far far too many situations for far too long coming out of there. As I said before, for a layman looking in, it sure looks like a major lack of accountability exists there. When cops ignore their training and procedures flagrantly, they know they don’t have to pay attention to it... It is one thing if it is a rogue cop, but the series of events out of that PD are far too frequent and numerous to be blamed on a few rogue cops.
The latest, where 4 officers, 4 of them, allowed what happened to happen is inexcusable... One cop doing something wrong, isolated case, one cop doing something wrong in front of 3 others, and not a damned one of the other 3 say a word to him, not only that, but actively prevent anyone else from stopping him from killing that man, that’s not a rogue individual, that’s a systemic problem.
I am as law and order as you can get, but its beyond obvious SOMETHING is majorly wrong in the Minneapolis PD, and it’s not something that any simple political viewpoint or bumper sticker slogan.
As the COVID lockdowns showed, lots of cops will go along with harassing citizens and arresting them for exercising their god given and constitutionally guaranteed rights if the politicians tell them to, simple as that, no law required. So it's not too unrealistic to think they could make it happen.
The only replacing this blank needs to concern herself with is her being replaced.
Maybe if I had some help, I would not be violating rules.
What, did I do that was wrong?
If her place gets broken into, will this moron call the cops?
If she does, they should laugh and refuse to respond.

Rotten to the root? Why is that? I’ll tell ya why.
Because you and most Minneapolis citizens are rotten to the root. Rotten citizens voted for rotten officials. Who appointed a rotten police chief. Who hired rotten cops.
Cops are just a representation of the community they serve.
GIGO.
Exactly.
You get what you vote for, good and hard. And now, voting won’t matter anyway.
Sorry. I didn’t see it.
Yeah - now I’ve got to go and clean the rest of them up. So thanks for that.
