The city of Seattle announced that it would turn a fire station into a community center for black residents after weeks of protests.
The city announced on Thursday that it would be turning over ownership of the fire station to the community in line with a list of demands given to the city from Africatown and other black activist groups.
"We at the City of Seattle understand the urgency behind making bold investments in the Black community and increasing community ownership of land in the Central District," the city wrote.

“spineless”? See how “spineless” they are when they are dealing with a conservative.
So, is it gonna be an exclusively Black-to-be-admitted “community” center?
I have a hunch the fire fighters told the mayor things are to hostile and wouldn’t go into the zone to fight a fire.
Now that it has been ceded over to the protesters ...when a fire breaks out and is not responded to it cannot be blamed on racism.
ONLY for BLACKS??? hmmmmmmm....kind of like the MLK street signs.
PDJT better put a stop to this bs. This crap is going to spread if he lets it continue
I’m reminded of a situation where there was open hostility between a municipal department and a volunteer department that was primarily funded by a furniture manufacturer. His factory (located a block north of the city limits) caught fire and, since he had consistently refused to sign a mutual aid agreement, a city rig responded to the border, turned around and parked, and the crew climbed up in the hose bed and watched the fire. The volunteers arrived 15 minutes later. The factory was a total loss. A couple of months later the volunteers signed an agreement with the only nearby department that would still speak to them.
Something similar is a pleasant fantasy in this case, but most likely the city will just drive over and put it out.
I agree. There should be legal repercussions for the mayors actions.
I agree. If he is a law and order President lets see some. I wish he would take healthy area no Covid cases Nursing Homes off lockdown. Many us want to visit our parents before this forced separation takes them from us.
Anybody have any of those TNG facepalm memes to use in this thread?
True; many of these paid firefighting jobs are just makework. When NYC lost 343 firemen on 9/11, the next mayor (Bloomberg) was asked when they were going to fill those positions. He responded that they weren’t going to; the city had been looking to close firehouses for years, and there was no reason to replace them.

Lack of a Fire station in the area will effect property owners’ insurance rates. Great move Seattle. Also will the property owner get a lower property tax rate since services are being reduced?
Caller: There is a fire at 123 Main Street!
Responder: We'll send a community organizer truck with buckets right over!
The world has already provided a LOT of 'examples' to learn from; but it appears some just have to touch the hot stove for themselves.
There's always Howard, or Tuskeegee.
But I don’t think they suffer fools too much.
The problem with this idea is that the world doesn't like a vacuum. Disband the police and the guys who wear blue helmets with "UN" stenciled on them will take the place of the police in a heartbeat. They are only waiting for the order to move in and take over in preparation for the One World Order.

“Community center” — Big Media euphemism for military HQ.

Meanwhile at CHAZ in Seattle, a new law is created, making white people each give Ten dollars to a black person!
