The organization that puts on the Oscars announced Friday that, starting next year, films will be required to meet "representation and inclusion standards" to qualify for awards.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences did not provide specifics on the new eligibility standards. The group said in a news release that it will form a task force of industry leaders to "develop and implement" the standards by the end of July.
While the Academy has made strides, we know there is much more work to be done in order to ensure equitable opportunities across the board, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement. The need to address this issue is urgent. To that end, we will amendand continue to examineour rules and procedures to ensure that all voices are heard and celebrated.

Do they have a free trial period? You could sign up for that, watch the movie and then cancel.
More like today’s affirmative action: “People of color will sweep the awards even if none participated”.
They’ve been doing this for years already. It’s why most people don’t watch anymore.
Me, too.
Nowadays, folks cannot name 6 male or 6 female Hollywood STARS off the top of their heaes.
We could instantly name 6 or zillions more....Cary Grant, John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, Bob Hope, Burt Lancaster.....Rita Hayworth, Betty Davis, Betty Grable, Lana Turner, Ingrid Bergman, Gene Tierney.....
Sigh, I'm getting nostalgic.....

I was thinking about the other day, how many people can even name 10 modern-day baseball players?
I could, as a kid, recite the starting lineups for most teams, being an avid, avid, baseball fan.
Today, I can barely mention ONE.
Actually, I'm thinking right now and can't even name ONE, lol.

What’s funny is now, in my neighborhood, which is full of families from India, they are all playing Cricket.
Havent you heard of Black Russians!
I largely agree there.
Gee... will these same RULES carry over to the PORN Awards? /s
"I'm shocked I tell you, shocked... you left out Claude Rains!"
Not to mention the recent CHANGE by the group "Lady Antebellum" to "Lady A",
Now it appears there is a conflict because a BLACK female jazz singer, who has used the name "Lady A" for the past 20 years has objected
Guess who will win that one?
And will the "Dixie Chicks" and "Confederate Railroad" need to change their names?
I see NO END to attempting to be "politically correct."
They have quota’s to met people.
Ignore any talented people, just fill them quota’s!!
I’m a rock fan, but I listen to some country, mostly older country.
Lady Antebellum was one group that I enjoyed. No more.
Nothing needs to be said about “The Dixie Chicks”. I didn’t like them even before their meltdown. There was something about their singer that really put me off.
I liked “Confederate Railroad” when they were popular. I get the feeling that they won’t give in as easily.
The Demonrats are destroying everything they touch.
My tagline is from a song by my favorite Symphonic Metal band, Nightwish. They are from Finland and are hugely popular in Europe and South America.
With the Covid scam and the communist takeover of America, I thought Nightwish’s “Planet Hell” lyrics would be very appropriate for the current madness.
If you haven't here's a link or two to get a taste.
I like her because she decided to BUCK the nashville machine and seems to be getting the job done.
She has a KNOCKOUT group/ensemble that included the best damn female drummer I've see in a long, long time. Her name is Sarah Tomek.
Here's are a few links, See what you think if you haven't already heard of her.
I haven’t heard of her, but will definitely check out your links.
I enjoy learning about new talent, considering the dreck that’s played on the radio.
Thanks!
That's why I thought you might like this little powerhouse.
She had a lot of opposition from Radio. They wouldn't play her.
Now that she's been true to playing the kind of music SHE wants to do the walls seem to be coming down.
If you like her music then I KNOW you'll love the following.
And by the way CrimsonTideGirl... I’ve been a ‘Bama fan since the days of Bear Bryant. Roll Tide!
I watched the videos of Maggie Rose. I was very impressed!
I loved her rendition of “The Letter”. I love that song and I enjoyed her interpretation.
You are right about her drummer; She is a beast:)
It’s a shame that talented artists like Maggie Rose don’t get the airplay and attention they deserve.
I feel the same way about Brittany Howard and the Alabama Shakes. I don’t know if you are familiar with them. The band were classmates in High School in Athens, Alabama. Athens is close to Muscle Shoals, which I’m sure you’re familiar with. They’ve been around for several years, but I will include a link to one of their songs.
Alabama Shakes-”Hold On”
There are a few radio friendly artists with actual talent: Kelly Clarkson, Pink and Bruno Mars come to mind.
IMO, the best female singer right now is Floor Jansen of Nightwish. She can sing metal style, classical, operatic and can do “death growls”. Incredibly versatile.
Thanks again for the links. I will keep up with Maggie Rose.
Great taste:)
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!
