Riding the momentum of the George Floyd riots, California's legislators have moved to ask the voters to repeal Proposition 209, the voter-passed measure to end affirmative action.
According to the Sacramento Bee:
More than two decades after California voters banned consideration of race in university admissions, public employment and contracting with Proposition 209, the state Assembly on Wednesday approved a measure that would ask voters to repeal the law.
In a 58-9 initial vote, Assemblywoman Shirley Weber, D-San Diego, secured the necessary two-thirds majority approval needed to send Assembly Constitutional Amendment 5 out of her house and to the state Senate. Only one Republican, Assemblyman Tom Lackey, R-Palmdale, voted in favor of the bill.
ACA 5 would repeal provisions of the 1996 ballot measure, which prohibited state institutions from granting preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin. Advocates of the change said it would once again allow affirmative action in hiring, contracting, and admissions[.]
Apparently, they can't repeal it themselves since it was enacted by the voters. But they can ask, and ask again, until they get the answer they want, which is what they're doing now.
Just one problem with this wokester scheme to never let a crisis go to waste: Asian-Americans can see that they're the target.

It gets worse, way worse...
Two years ago, Patrick Chavis was regarded as one of the most significant successes ever produced by affirmative action. Today his story is more likely to be cited as a cautionary tale about the dangers of preferential treatment.
Mr. Chavis’s acceptance at the University of California, Davis, medical school in 1973 under a special minorities-only admissions program helped spur a more qualified white man, Allan Bakke, whose application had been turned down, to sue the school. The U.S. Supreme Court’s 1978 ruling in Bakke v. Regents of the University of California rejected quotas—Mr. Bakke was ordered enrolled—but upheld racial preferences; the decision guided affirmative action policy for more than a decade.
...now that Patrick Chavis’s license has been suspended by the California state medical board. He is also the object of a criminal investigation by the Los Angeles district attorney. And he is being sued by two women who, state investigators say, nearly died in his care, and by the survivors of Tammaria Cotton, who died in June 1996 after being treated by Dr. Chavis—as the other women were—with a fat-reduction technique called tumescent liposuction. The procedure involves flooding fatty tissue with a solution that delivers local anesthetic, reduces blood loss and facilitates suctioning away the fat. At least that’s the way it usually works. The California medical board charges that in Dr. Chavis’s hands tumescent liposuction proved fatal...
Traveling in the white stretch limousine that Dr. Chavis dispatched for his cosmetic-surgery patients, the 43-year-old Cotton arrived early one morning at the New Attitude Body Sculpting facility he operated in south Los Angeles. Cotton never revived from the procedure, and died that night in the emergency room across the street from Dr. Chavis’s offices. The cause of death was officially “hypothermia and fluid overload” and “tumescent anesthesia for liposuction.” Dr. Chavis had not been present at New Attitude as Cotton’s condition deteriorated; he had another emergency to deal with at his house, according to papers filed by the state to obtain the suspension order: A woman he had performed liposuction on the day before had later collapsed in a puddle of blood and been taken to a hospital emergency room, but was checked out at 4 a.m. by Dr. Chavis, who took her to his house to recuperate.
It wasn’t the first time the doctor had installed a dangerously ill patient in his house. Another woman lay in bed for three days, lost nearly 70% of her blood, suffered delirium and infection, and came close to death...
Was Dr. Chavis once the wonderful doctor lionized in the Times and The Nation until suffering some sort of midlife meltdown? Or has he been skirting danger ever since getting out of the medical school he wasn’t qualified to attend, and only lately got caught? We’ll never know.
If California schools throw out all the Communist Chinese students from.its campuses - some as high as 30% - there should be plenty of spaces to go around.
Besides this latest Latino-fueled attack on Prop 209, remember where the attack on the gig economy came from. The various rival gangs that make up the Demagogic Party are really going at it this year, never letting a crisis go to waste, even when it's a manufactured one.
Just unanimously endorsed by the UC Regents, minus our friend Ward Connerly.
By 2021 Kalifornia will have repealed affirmative action, Prop 13, and all the good work of the past 40 years.
