The president of the detectives union in New York says police officers in the city feel 'abandoned' by public officials in the light of Black Lives Matter protests that have erupted nationwide.
'There is no one supporting the police, from the governor to the mayor to the DAs to the city council,' Paul DiGiacomo, president of the Detectives' Endowment Association in New York, said to Fox News on Monday. 'They feel abandoned by everyone.'
The union represents 19,000 active and retired detectives, but the police department as a whole appears to be feeling a palpable sense of anger on the streets as calls to defund the department grow louder.

Abandoned heck. They have been turned on and vilified then sent out to face rioters without the tools to protect themselves
I am so glad I sold my NYC condo last year. I’m sure abolishing the police will go well...
Many cops are hanging in there for the pension.
The younger ones probably should look for another line of work now.
The abandonment of the NYPD began a long ago when progressive tard after tard gained control in NYC and NY itself. The protesting and rioting only intensified it.
I feel for these men and women who daily put their lives on the line in the name of maintaining law and order, but not just in NYC and NY, but all over this country. The silver lining, so to speak, is that the progressive libtards will reap what they have sown, in a disastrous way.
Former NYPD commissioner claims 600 officers considering exit from the force amid George Floyd protests
It was only a matter of time before they got mad and walked away and who can blame them?
But then again...
Since we have Soros backed DAs who won’t charge all the wanna be Che’s out there and judges who go along with it...
What if a bunch of these cops are corrupt marxists too and they’re walking away trying to help destroy the rule of law even further?
Frank Serpico could not be reached for comment. Would love to get his take on all this.
There is a shortage of police and the rest of the country would be very happy to recruit members of the NYPD. These guys truly do not have to put up with this crap.
Id love to see them go on strike. Let the NYC pukes who elected and re-elected DeBlasio feel it all first-hand.
They all need to walk away. They should have no problem finding jobs in suburban areas where they are appreciated and respected. The sad thing is that come November their union will be supporting Biden.
I suspect the idiot Cuomo might change his tune if a large enough chunk of the NYPD fled for a state that is not torturing its law enforcement.
One mist conclude that things still haven’t gotten bad enough for cops or else they would be resigning en mass.
If they want to be appreciated that’s what they must do. But when you have a mortgage, cars to pay off, a family to feed... you put up with a lot of abuse.
The union has basically told them to stand down because they could be prosecuted for doing their job according to cardillo
The Daily Mails Daily hype columns. Always spinning up.
There is a powerful facebook post I read the other day by a cop who maintains that no one despises a dirty cop like Chauvin more than a clean cop. More cops need to expose the dirty dealings of bad cops.
Folks here on FR may not like to hear this, but one look at the titles of the people making these statements says an awful lot about the police problem in these big cities. NYC has a police officers union. Then theres a separate union for detectives, another one for sergeants, etc. Dig deep enough, and Im sure youll find a union for retired transgender disabled cops. None of this serves the public interest in any way.
