De Blasio did not reveal how much funding he aimed to divert from the annual NYPD budget. The New York Times noted that the NYPD budget was $6 billion and accounted for 6 percent of the proposed 2021 NYC fiscal budget.
He did say that the details of any budget reallocation would be worked out ahead of the July 1 budget deadline.
Were committed to seeing a shift of funding to youth services, to social services, that will happen literally in the course of the next three weeks, but Im not going to go into detail because it is subject to negotiation and we want to figure out what makes sense, de Blasio said.
Other measures included shifting smaller responsibilities, such as street vendor enforcement, away from the NYPD and hiring community ambassadors to connect police departments and local communities.

Not in NYC myself then I remember a young African Am4rican woman on tv interview on the street: "They said on the news this blackout was from an act of God. That means God wants black people to take everything out of the stores. It all belongs to us now.
A male musician on Forever Your Girl by Paula Abdul (sold 7 million copies the first year) admitted he was one of the NYC looters and carried out such things as expensive heavy furniture like cabinets worth thousands. He said he felt guilty in later years.
Not quit, retired.
Many get paid more in retirement than they do working.
The rumor is 800 retired immediately, out of 36,000 officers.
Wilhelm Klink is at it again.
Nothing is as it seems anymore. The left would deserve it if all or most police quit, the rest of us not so much.
The police union should be all over this, creating a “Chinese wall” second police union for subscription based policing.
As private police they are not under the control of the city government, and follow civilian, not police rules, which means little paperwork, no “police brutality” regs, and if someone doesn’t pay for the service, they don’t get service. It would be like paid vacation for cops.
Rural/Metro is a private fire department in the western US, it works and its employees are happy.
It’s a major issue with the union.
I wont go there except go to Trump Plaza..
Why did you think Trump didnt give in to DeBlrchio’s PLEA for money federal aid due to China virus?
Because trump knew he would do more stupid things with the money that will be slush fund. here’s a perfect example.
Again, what could possibly go wrong?
The police force IS THE ESSENCE of social services
During the riots, I have watched Mayor Giuliani on Fox.
I got the impression that it was all Giuliani could do to restrain himself from going to Kaiser Wilhelm and punching his lights out. Several times he called Wilhelm a moron and tried his best not to curse on the air.
I don’t believe that I have ever seen Giuliani that incensed and disgusted. He hates Kaiser Wilhelm with a passion.
De Blowsio is taking NYC straight into the TOILET.
Sorry about your luck New Yorkers... "you reap what you sow"
Awesome....good for deblasio....delusional idiot...
Sounds fine Bill, but did you forget your city is broke?
And you know what, when they increased the speed limit from 55, people didn’t all die either, and in fact in a few places like in Germany where you STILL have stretches of Autobahn that have no restrictions, people don’t all die in accidents their either.
No, I’m not an anarchist, but I also don’t believe in a nanny state, do you know what that is, a “nanny state?”
***Do you know what the ONLY difference is between American conservatives and American liberals? What their idea of big government is.
***Liberals want to control everything in the name of social justice and the environment.
***Conservatives want to control everything in the name of spies, terrorists and foreign nation threats.
BOTH are equally invasive, willing to create big government and spend like mad, side step the US Constitution and basic rights or the process. As long as it’s for their cause.
He’s an idea, I’m a strict Constitutionalist. I am one of those corny guys that actually believes in what that document says, that the folks writing it weren’t clowns and knew exactly what words they were choosing, and worst of all believe that the US was an exceptional place because of that, once upon a time. Today, the US is just like some other European country. It’s a social democracy with a big federal government directing how much water your toilet uses per flush and what light bulb you have, you get searched at airports without probable cause in your person and affects, but you walk around talking about freedom and liberty, bla bla bla. What a joke.
At some point, if you are a true “conservative,” you come to the conclusion that you cannot accommodate a big nanny state or a perfectly safe place and true freedom.
Tell me, in what part of the US Constitution are FISA courts allowed? Where does the US Constitution agree with what is in the Patriot Act?
Or better yet, you tell me, which one, just one single one of the Bill or Rights has not been abridged?
The US is not a Republic on which it was based (we are a republic, not a democracy by design) because the US Constitution has been circumnavigated. While you call me an anarchist, most folks sworn in under the US Constitution cannot tell you what the first ten amendments even are!!! Sure, they have a good credit score, paid all their traffic tickets, they never smoked weed, or pirated software, so Bill Gates is happy. But the people sworn in under the ideas expressed in a document they are suppose to defend or uphold do not even know the most basic tenets of what it’s about, think about that one. In this country, where people talk about freedom, democracy, the rule of law and justice, you will get hammered harder for not paying a toll road bill than interfering with national elections by using a secret FISA court to collect on a political opponent. That is what happens when government comes to help, may it be for the children, to save us from global warming or protect us from terrorists. No, no no... and I ask you again this question. When the federal government shut down all their law enforcement (ATF, DEA, FBI, TSA, Federal Marshal Service) by ~75%, what changed for you? Were you attacked? Did your neighborhood disintegrate with burning houses and angry mobs roaming the streets? I’ll answer it for you, nothing changed because just like global warming and the billions wasted on fighting that scare, the government wastes billions on law enforcement which accomplishes NOTHING, zero, zip, nadda. There is a mission for federal law enforcement, but it is about 1/4 of what it is today. You can literally accomplish the same (as in what actual impact you have on national security) with 1/4 the people.
So, while as a conservative you likely agree with cutting on the EPA and Department of Education (which you see most likely as a waste of resources and ineffective - and that is also true), I bring to you the idea that this also applies to other areas that are holy for so-called conservatives that in reality want big government also.
Third amendment.
...but, I get your point.
You have a lot of time on your hands, don’t you?
CC
I could throw a couple good ones right about now as to why I may have so much time on my hands, but I choose not to. :)
