Uber Technologies (UBER) - Get Report has launched a feature of its Uber Eats food delivery app to enable U.S. and Canadian customers for the rest of the year to order from black-owned restaurants with free delivery. Shares of the San Francisco ride-sharing and food-delivery company at last check were up 2.9% to $37.50. The feature responds to nationwide protests about the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed while in police custody in in Minneapolis.

Not illegal. But it is racist.
I would think so.
um.. yeah blatantly illegal. Same as saying we only charge white owned businesses.
If I was one of their customers, I would boycott them for this racist policy.

The worst part is that you know the other restaurants are footing the bill. I remember a commercial years ago that was virtue-signaling telling buyers that if they bought a laptop, the company sent one to a kid in Africa. It didn’t last long; customers just realized quickly that they were buying two computers and giving a freebie to a black kid.
Never used Uber eats or plan on to. I am not so lazy as to place an order, get into a car, and pick up the order.
I’ve been stuck with ubereats a LOT. Covid and all. I don’t think they’ announced who run owns their restaurants so far, so I can’t really tell what race I’m buying from. Lots of Hispanics in this area. If I hear they are boycotting whites or Hispanics then I’ll go back to home cooking.
So give a black buddy a 1% stake in your restaurant. You then qualify as a ‘black owned’ business and get free delivery.

This is how all of this will ultimately manifest itself. Speciai privileges, laws and ultimately discrimination against whites.
What exec at Uber is in charge of deciding who qualifies as black?
A former colleague of mine who is white is married to a guy from the Caribbean who is black, but also has Indian, Hispanic and Chinese ancestry. Their kids literally tick all of the boxes.

Charging people more for race is expressing illegal.

There is some sock company doing the same thing now (but they don’t specify Africa, just “needy people” or some feel-good nonsense like that - but the concept is the same: You’re buying more and giving some away.
This country has done an amazing job creating a spoiled, dependent permanent underclass. Even FDR, to address the 25% unemployment during the Depression, saw the danger in paying idle people; he put them to work building some, often makework, so people would never expect money for nothing.
Giving a racist discount is the same as charging a race more.
Highly discriminatory and actionable
