This certainly SEEMS to be the case from today’s vantage point. I’ve been saying the same for the last 60 hours or so.
However....I also see significant presence of gun owners protecting businesses in the heartland. I see considerable flag-waving/not bowing down presence in social media. I see some stern outrage (good) and honestly a lot of real humor (extremely powerful).
I see a lot of determined Americans not rolling over.
So....please...someone...while I think it’s indisputable that real social upheaval is coming, and is here, I’d like to believe that it isn’t going to be a lopsided victory for the other side and that the new America the author speaks of will not necessarily come to pass....

We REALLY are in deep shit as a country.
The scary part about it is....those of us with jobs are either now, or soon to be, under intense scrutiny. If you aren’t sufficiently ‘woke’ about the supposed ‘inequality’ of whatever ‘outrage’ happens to be in ascendancy at the time, you’re in danger of having your job taken away, your character publicly trashed, or even worse.
Many of us are not well-off enough to weather such a storm. One may have a strong opinion that doesn’t go along with the mob-rule of ‘wokeness’, but we also don’t relish the idea of having our livelihood taken from us, and especially having it affect wives and kids who are relying on us.
It can come to a stop when tucks and trains no longer deliver goods. Hard to virtue signal on an empty stomach.

This picture and the period we are in is not new! The same happened around 1929 and afterward, 1861 and afterward, and the period leading up to the American Revolution (and other times in Anglo history).
