I have my TV on, and the Best kept secret seems to be that Floyd was on Meth and Fentanyl at the time of his arrest.
Mr. Floyd was attempting to drive on Meth and Fentanyl.
there are some real cop haters on this site. i recognize one on this thread that will always jump up against cops in every situation
Not in my case. I have many LEO neighbors. Fully supported police in Ferguson and George Zimmerman. But this case is different.
You don’t go on political kamikaze missions for those that don’t deserve it. Chauvin needs to hang for what he did. The left dreams of doing to us what that dirty cop did to his unconscious and handcuffed prisoner.
And in another couple decades when whites are the minority there will be many places in this country without any white cops. Think about that before you defend this dirty cop. What’s good for the goose...

If this cop gets a fair trial (doubtful) he will get a very much reduced charge if not acquitted. AS HE SHOULD BE! (reasonable doubt, VERY reasonable)
He held Floyd down WAY TOO LONG, YES. KILLED HIM? I think not.

How much due process did George Floyd get? And he’s dead. Chauvin isn’t. He’s going to plead guilty and folks like you will continue defending him. Of that I have doubt.

I think the cop went too far, BUT he will have a strong defense. Minneapolis police department policy ALLOWS officers to place their knee on the rear or side of a resisting suspect’s neck to keep them subdued. As long as they don’t use a “choke hold” they are permitted to use a Conscious neck restraint. They can even use an unconscious neck restraint (intended to put the suspect to sleep) in certain circumstances. Both of those are considered non-lethal force options. (Choke hold is considered lethal force and only allowable to prevent death or great bodily injury, etc.)
The counter to that will be that the guy was saying “I can’t breathe,” but as a brother of a police officer, I know that he says many guys, particulary since the Eric Garner thing, now say “I can’t breathe” regularly when being arrested.
I still think the cop went too far, but depending on the jury he gets, he may be acquitted, especially when you consider the official autopsy results.

You apparently are unable to use logic or reasoning before making a judgement.
In the original autopsy the medical examiner found no evidence of strangulation or neck trauma.
The toxicology reports indicate that death was caused by a heart attack, meth and fentanyl intoxication.
Maybe the cop will turn out to be guilty. Reasonable people would want to know all the facts before turning into savages and burning down the town. Some, such as yourself, only want to see a tiny bit of the evidence. I suppose it is easier to go through life without all that thinking for yourself stuff.
Compliance. Cops love it. A good way to avoid a lot of grief.

Wrong. In Minneapolis, it is official department policy to allow the use of neck restraint using an arm or leg for a resisting suspect. Floyd was certainly resisting arrest at the time when they were trying to put him in the car. I think Chauvin took it too far, but he was doing what their policy allows by using the neck restraint technique. Anyone you see on TV saying that cops aren't taught to do this is lying to you.
He’s gonna suicide like Epstein and that will be considered an admission of guilt. Just my take but my record for predictions is spotty I must admit.
The fact he was on Meth and Fentanyl is not really germane to the issue at hand.
Video evidence shows Chauvin kneeled on his neck until he lost consciousness. We know that because they CHECKED HIS PULSE.
The police pulled him out of the vehicle while he was in handcuffs to subdue him. Although a large man, the 3 officers were able to control and quickly subdue Floyd on the ground.
Here are 6 reason that Chauvin will be convicted of the charges.
1. The knee to the neck is not an approved subdue technique. Cursory police training instructs that neck compression can quickly result in loss of consciousness. Neck compression that lasts too long can result in brain damage and/or death.
2. Floyd repeatedly told officers that he couldn’t breathe. I know, I know, he was breathing to be able to talk. He was in handcuffs, lying on the ground on his stomach with an officer on top of him. His breathing was labored and his phrases were brief. He was in OBVIOUS physical distress within a minute or so on the ground. He was in a position that the nee to the neck was COMPLETELY unnecessary, besides being an unapproved technique (see point #1)
3. Floyd told the officers “I give up.” or “I quit.”
4. Floyd STOPPED MOVING.
5. Floyd STOPPED TALKING.
6. Floyd STOPPED BREATHING. The officers checked his pulse. They wouldn’t have checked his pulse if the knew he was still breathing. You can’t continue to breathe with your heart stopped.
7. Officer Chauvin continued with his knee on his neck for over two minutes AFTER they checked his pulse.
It doesn’t matter what he was on, what they thought he might have been on or what underlying medical condition he had.
The police officers recognized he was in severe medical distress (they called for an ambulance) and for over two minutes Chauvin continued to apply an unapproved restrain technique they he and they knew could cause serious physical harm or even death.
Just an FYI: The coroner report stating the underlying health issues does NOT help the officers. Applying severe physical stress to someone with heart or coronary disease causes the blood pressure to skyrocket, risking stroke and/or heart attack.
Note what the official department policy says (in my post #97). After defining “Neck Restraint” as “compressing one or both sides of a person’s neck with an arm or leg, without applying direct pressure to the (front of the neck)” it says the following:
“Only sworn employees who have received training from the MPD Training Unit are authorized to use neck restraints.”
So, we know that (1) Minneapolis PD DOES TRAIN THE USE OF NECK RESTRAINTS, and (2) they are allowed by department policy for trained officers. Assuming Chauvin was trained in the use of them, this is going to be a very tough case for the prosecution.
As I told some people yesterday, if you don’t like that policy, change it. I’m okay with that. But don’t act like the policy doesn’t exist.
