On George Floyd: There is NOTHING to Protest
American Thinker ^ | 06/01/2020 | Selwyn Duke

With the mayhem following the last Monday death of arrestee George Floyd, many have pointed out that protesting is fine, but rioting is not. While obviously true, something equally so is left unsaid:

There is nothing to protest.

It’s not as with the murder of Justine Damond, where it took eight months to arrest the trigger-pulling Minneapolis police officer, Mohamed Noor.

It’s not as with the killing of Virginian John Geer, where it took 18 months to arrest the cop who killed him and later pled down to involuntary manslaughter, Adam Torres.

Of course, Damond and Geer were both white. So not only were there no protests, riots, looting or burning; the incidents weren’t even covered nationally. Nothing to see here — move along.

In contrast, it took mere days for the officer in the Floyd case, Derek Chauvin, to be fired, arrested and charged with third degree murder and manslaughter, and the other three cops involved have also been axed. So what would satisfy protesters? A summary execution? (In some cases, yes.)

Oh, but there’s the big picture, many say? There sure is, and it’s this:

Far more white than black suspects are shot every year by cops.

This isn’t merely due to whites being far more numerous, either. After all, research finds that police are actually more likely to shoot whites relative to the races’ different homicide rates and the rates at which they feloniously shoot police.

study also showed that cops are, in reality, more willing to shoot white suspects than black ones.

Black suspects are as likely to shoot at police as to be shot at.

According to FBI statistics, 46% of those who murder police officers are black.

White police officers are actually less likely than non-white officers to shoot and kill non-white

I agree. The cop has been arrested; protests are useless. Apparently they are protesting the very existence of police now.

I keep thinking about how in some places (CA) the police don’t even respond if the crime is less than $900, & here the entire world is set alight over a bogus $20 bill. The world has gone insane.

Democrats have always supported mob justice and public lynching. They did it under Jim Crow. They are doing it today.

Elsewhere, William Sullivan of American Thinker said:

Let’s imagine for a moment that it actually was Floyd’s death that drove them to the act. The owners of the business had precisely nothing to do with Floyd’s death, so even then, in what meaningful sense would this be considered “justice”?

Imagine this moral question differently. Imagine that my friend has his car stolen, and the thief is arrested, awaiting trial. A lot of people like my friend have their cars stolen these days, I conclude, so I’m understandably angry about it. Rather than await justice from the courts, I instead find some other innocent person who has some expensive wheels, and assault him and steal his car.

Now, I would, and should, go to jail for that crime, and for good reason. And that’s because the other person has innate rights to property, and those rights are every bit as important as, say, my right to life and liberty.

It is this American “social right” which the rioters are explicitly challenging, and demanding be replaced by their brand of “social justice” that is more akin to communism than anything American governance has ever been.

For most of the rioters, this isn’t about race. It’s about unmaking America. And we’ve been cobbling the path to this moment for a long time. What we do now will determine whether or not America’s future is as a constitutional republic or a new socialist experiment that is based upon countless failed ones.

Russia didn’t work. The Ukraine didn’t work. Impeachment didn’t work. The CCP Virus didn’t work. The Killer hornets fizzled.

The Commie organized Riots are their next attempt to oust our President.

George Floyd is just an excuse...it’s as simple as that.

Duh; these protests aren’t about Floyd, they’re about lockdowns, job losses, uncertainty in the future, COVID-19, political manipulation. Hands up, don’t loot.

I was off a few days in my prediction that riots would start in June. Courts are re-opening, and many people stopped paying rent in March. The temporary assistance coming through on credit cards, cell phones, loans are supposed to start sunsetting.

30 million on unemployment. Come back to work or you’ll lose unemployment, only we’ll pay you less than unemployment will.

Welcome to re-opening our economy. Hope you bought your ammo, it’s just about to become as scarce as toilet paper.

Remember when we believed in the rule of law? Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law? I am not saying whether he should or shouldn't be but he has already been convicted and sentenced. So now we have devolved into mob rule.

“Apparently they are protesting the very existence of police now.”

Your almost there my friend. What a lot of them want is immunity from the laws of this country and to be able to do whatever they want with impunity.. Many feel they shouldn’t be burdened by the laws of our country because “this country was built on the backs of their slave ancestors”. That’s not what I think...it’s what many of them think.

Exactly. They don’t even know the cause of death for Saint George yet but everyone is calling it murder by cop.

“There is nothing to protest”

Quite the contrary. Of course they are not protesting whatever-his-name-is, nobody cares about him.

They are protesting the horrible alienation of living among a people so different from them, as a minority, who would live otherwise if they were allowed to do so, but they are not.

Mixed with the ancestry story “brought here in chains”, you’d be angry, too - and they are. Much more angry than in 1964 when they were promised the difference was “only skin color” and YT’s bad laws.

50 years has exposed the truth, and now the anger is off the charts. Completely justified, completely understandable.

What is neither justified nor understandable is white people’s paralysis in the face of danger and denial of Jefferson’s truth: “nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. nor is it less certain that the two races, equally free, cannot live in the same government.”

How many cops murdered since the last Antifa riots? No one rioted to protest them. Violent protesters need a lead reminder of that.

Perhaps these anarchists deserve anarchy. They seem to want a situation where “anything goes” and the government “doesn’t get involved”.

All I can say is, if we lived in that kind of world, there wouldn’t be a lot of anarchists. If you know what I mean.

“A handful of criminals and thugs who tore up the place,” were the words Obama used to describe the perpetrators of the violent behavior.

Speaking at the White House on April 28, 2015, a day after the rioting erupted, he said there was “no excuse for the kind of violence that we saw yesterday.”
Mediavine

“When individuals get crowbars and start prying open doors to loot, they’re not protesting, they’re not making a statement – they’re stealing,” Obama said. “When they burn down a building, they’re committing arson. And they’re destroying and undermining businesses and opportunities in their own communities that rob jobs and opportunity from people in that area.”

“That is not a protest. That is not a statement,” he said. “It’s people – a handful of people taking advantage of a situation for their own purposes, and they need to be treated as criminals.”

Trump said the same and gets called divisive.

Wait...wut? Why is Nidal Malik Hasan still alive? Protest that. Or would his death create another martyr for these domestic terrorists? EVIL foreign, EVIL domestic.

Not to mention you’d be hard pressed to find a single person whose seen the video who finds what that cop did to be acceptable. Unlike a lot of the cop shooting cases where details are sketchy and people disagree that video provides a huge degree of consensus over this being a real problem.

And it’s a mistake to define such things by race. Sometimes you are just dealing with a generally thuggish and/or stupid individual who might have killed anyone.
