On Monday night, Minneapolis police officers murdered a man named George Floyd.
And, yes, they murdered him. Some may object to the characterization given the blunt, hard candor of the term, but there’s no other way that any fair-minded person can view the video of a police officer consistently and persistently burying his knee into the neck of a man who eventually died due to the restriction of oxygen resulting from the placement of that knee onto his neck.
The Minnesota Vikings have issued a statement regarding the murder of George Floyd.

Agreed, Lurker. This is not some he said /she said case, where the facts are still cloudy. That cop murdered Mr. Floyd. Period.
Some folks are trying to turn this into a racial issue, white vs. black. It’s not! This is a monster cop vs. society issue. So it only makes sense that all of society should comment.
By the way, imagine if there was no citizen present to record this incident. Those four cops would probably be in some bar somewhere now, laughing it up.

Yes the cop should be brought to justice, tried and given the punishment he deserves. But I as a white person 2000 miles away minding my business, don’t share any of the blame. I feel absolutely no guilt at what the criminal cop did.
The thugs burning up Minneapolis and LA are also guilty and should be arrested and brought to justice.
I’m not at all into communal guilt, but if you are, start forking over your wallet and declaring yourself a racist... because you’re white.
No word yet on if the cops had body cams. Not that it would provide much more detail, but more evidence.

I agree. And further there’s a lot in this case unknown. Videos seldom tell the whole story....but they can frame one before an investigation is actualy completed..and the media will run with whatever will keep the public engaged.....media is not a friend of truth.
Who said anything about “sharing the blame” and declaring themselves a racist? I don’t share the blame. I didn’t do anything. But that doesn’t mean I still can’t believe the cops murdered this guy.

I wish I could be that optimistic. Sadly, there’s no evidence anywhere in the world with a sizable population of both races where whites and blacks peacefully coexist together.

Orderly commerce cannot exist without a stable framework of laws which apply equally to all irrespective of rank, position, or social status.
To establish that framework we form a government.
In return for that framework We The People have granted the government a limited power to the use of force to enforce the laws enacted by We The People. The framework, if you will.
But that power comes with the implicit understanding that it will be used ONLY for lawful purposes under the most extreme conditions.
That’s the bargain. That’s the glue that holds a society like ours together.
These ***holes violated that bargain. And that’s a pretty damned big deal. Those four jackasses just gave the Gibsmedat crowd an excuse to go out and destroy the businesses you think should keep quiet about this atrocity.
They undermined the entire system. It’ll take years to undo the damage these ****heads have caused.
And that’s bad for business. I’d sever ties with this PD, too. At least until they clean the psychos out of their ranks.

You don’t know that. How do you know if his complaints about his stomach being upset and body aching all over isn’t from other medical issues as has happened before? Only the autopsy will show that. Additional his head was in full motion for a time with the officers knee there.
Things are not what they always appear to be even with videos. one witness is recorded shouting “He’s not resisting anymore” which certainly evidences that he was.
People need to wait for the investigation....and not just go with the media hype.

And who said that the cop didn’t kill the guy? For it to be murder it would have to be intentional. A jury will determine that.
But, trust me, every white person will be asked to atone for their innate racism.
How is this story presented? WHITE cop kills BLACK person. Cops are racists, America is racist. Not, cop uses extreme force and kills a person resisting arrest.
So NBC has tried and convicted the cops, no trial needed, just bring on the rope. More media balance?
Already forgotten, the 15 year old black kid who murdered a 35 year old white man in a very upscale Atlanta neighborhood a few days ago. Robbery was the motive. Death was the first result. Dead silence the other result.
Look....we’ve been down this road before where things have proven not to be as they appear. There’s more to this story.
And lets not forget the guy was ‘arrested’ for forgery.....he was resisting....and he has a criminal/prison past.
I prefer waiting for the facts of the case to be discovered and not follow the hysterics playing out currently......And you can take the rest of your comment and put it where the sun doesn’t shine.

You’re on the right track, but I’d replace “blacks and whites” there with “different ethnic groups”. The black/white thing is a subset.
Consider the former Yugoslavia. Most folks there were white, and the place spun apart in a bloody mess.
Diversity is something to be minimized. We as a country should be emphasizing our commonality. But our stupid leaders are doing the exact opposite. Celebrate diversity, they say. Look at Yugoslavia, I say back.
I will be pragmatic. So a sports writer gets to be the judge and jury? I have listened and read him for a long time concerning FOOTBALL and not legal analyst. Yes,the video and stills are graphic,unsettling and gruesome but it is a video and haven't we learned anything from video and events? Does he know the definition of murder varies? Maybe it clearly shows what it appears or maybe not after autopsy. I am not defending these police. They were doing what they thought was their job. They could actually be going by procedure or snapped but all three? The fourth (holding people back) also did nothing.Nobody will ever honestly know what goes on in one's mind in these arrests but the police involved and video of the one dimensional observer. The process is not for the media,politicians and barbaric society to go off and burn down society. The process is that these former officers go to trial and are right now not guilty until otherwise proven so as is the case in Georgia.
