Florida at this time of year is a crap-shoot weather wise in the afternoon. Why not launch earlier in the day, maybe before noon?

BTW....did anyone ever hear what the crew named the capsule? They’d said they were going to reveal the name today, but I’ve seen nothing.

During the 1960’s when I lived in the Orlando area we would watch the launch on TV and then run out to view the the rocket in the sky with our eyes. The Saturn IB Rocket was a great visual image climbing towards space. But the Saturn 5, WOW you could hear it! 50 miles away and you can hear the rocket!

If they had had a longer launch window it might
have cleared but no such luck.

They just mentioned that it was a matter of electrical activity in the air and that they need to much time to clear that criteria.

It’s a scrub. The launch window was instantaneous, so they couldn’t wait for another time today. That’s because of the position of the ISS at launch time so the astronauts would have a shorter ride to the ISS.

Even further than that! I lived in the western suburbs of Orlando then. It was pretty awesome.

“During the 1960’s when I lived in the Orlando area...”

Given what Orlando is like today (traffic, sprawl, crime, etc), it seems like that was a better time and place.
