A black man says he asked a white woman in Central Park to put her dog on a leash.
Then, video shows her calling police and telling emergency operators that the man was threatening her and her dog. The woman, who has been identified as Amy Cooper, has apologized. But by Tuesday afternoon she was fired from her job at an investment management firm.
"Following our internal review of the incident in Central Park yesterday, we have made the decision to terminate the employee involved, effective immediately. We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton," the company said in a statement posted to Twitter.
You act as though she was minding her own business. She was not obeying the rules of the park. The man showed her the sign, suggested a place that would work for what she wanted to do and she just ignored him. So he had no choice but to be chased out of his bird watching spot by a rude women who wasn’t in control of her recently adopted dog or to encourage her to get the dog on leash or move to a dog run area.
I’m sick of rude pushy people usurping other people’s rights.
To me, she acted like an hysteric whose first impulse is to create a confrontation and style herself the victim.
The point is that he threatened her. She sounded pretty scared to me and I think she had every right to be.
And I think you probably agree but just don’t want to admit it now so you are rationalizing.
The video out of Central Park is racism, plain and simple.
She called the police BECAUSE he was a Black man. Even though she was the one breaking the rules. She decided he was the criminal and we know why.
This kind of hatred has no place in our city.

Oh come on now mayor.
It did, it was effective. Got the police called too. In some parts of the country could have been worse. She should have simply put her dog on the leash. He shouldn’t have threatened her. Two foolish people, often leads to bad things.
Yep. It’s supposed to be a quiet place to walk, look at birds, etc* It’s not a place where one should have to deal with unleashed dogs, cyclists, etc.
*Which is kind of funny given the history of The Ramble, but still, it’s what it’s supposed to be today and it’s clearly marked as such.
“He shouldnt have threatened her.”
He didn’t threaten her. In fact after she threatened to call the cops on him he said “Please call the cops”
Absolutely. I was appalled. That alone suggested she was unhinged and abusive.
“As for her job, she can be fired for whatever reason her employer deems fit.”
That’s just an Internet old wives tale.
“Got the police called too.”
That was her doing.
Good point.
Has anyone gone on Online and changed her Party Affiliation to Republican yet?
Any Photoshopped pictures of her at a Trump Rally holding up a Nazi Flag yet?
“Defending a white liberal racist. Gotcha.”
So, asking questions, not jumping to conclusions, and highlighting unequal treatment is wrong in your worldview, Gotcha.
Well, he’s black, of COURSE he’s in the wrong

If anything she was triggered because someone told her she couldn’t do anything she wanted in the park. It was probably mind shattering that an important person like herself could be addressed by the hoi polloi so she had a tantrum instead of saying, “I’m sorry I was distracted”, and cal;ling her dog to put on the leash.
He didn’t threaten her life.
Why did she accuse him of threatening her life as she was strangling her dog?
Hi.
“Damn, you took my post again.”
I know, he does it all the time.

It seems she was fired.
A company has the right to fire an employee.
You would be a fool if you did.
