WASHINGTON (AP) Republican political operatives are recruiting pro-Trump doctors to go on television to prescribe reviving the U.S. economy as quickly as possible, without waiting to meet safety benchmarks proposed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
The plan was discussed in a May 11 conference call with a senior staffer for the Trump reelection campaign organized by CNP Action, an affiliate of the GOP-aligned Council for National Policy. A leaked recording of the hour-long call was provided to The Associated Press by the Center for Media and Democracy, a progressive watchdog group.

Another leak.

We were lectured to by the labcoats when Obamacare was passed.
My first take was he was taking AP to task for politicizing Trumps efforts to recruit medical science to his side.
But Im not actually sure what Noble wa driving at.
I like that Trump is doing this. The leftists always deride him and us for not being scientific. Now that he is doing that, they will deride him for introducing g politics to science. As if their recruitment of scientists (and big payoff to same) to their side of the global warming debate was neutral and not politically charged.
And every abortion doctor out there (M.D.) took the Hippocratic Oath.
For the AP:
Rule # 1 - Orange Man bad.
The CDC is part of the Trump administration.
If Trump thinks the guidelines are wrong he can change them - if he's willing to take accountability.
Leaving them in place but trying to undermine them at the same time is weak and the opposite of leadership.
I would love to see the leaker outed, shamed, and ostracized.
It’s not like he dressed up White House staff in lab coats to show support for his policy
Whats disgusting about it? Trumps initial response (wash your hands, dont touch your face, etc.) was fine, and then the 80 year old, long-time Dem activist and 52 year government employee who has never practiced medicine in his entire life and has been wrong on every previous disease outbreak somehow was allowed by Trump to usurp the presidency.
Trumps trying to get the job back now. His presidency was destroyed by faux medical stuff, which sent people into a panic and caused him to make some disastrous decisions, and now perhaps real science and medicine can get the public (and him) back on track.
Hes made some very good statements in the last couple of days, calling out some of the crazier governors and telling them to open up, so if there is some medical support, hell be in a better position.
Now lets see if the MSM, which is heavily invested in the shut-down, actually reports it.
The media will spend days looking for some Professor or "expert" that they can quote who will tell them what they want to hear so they can write their pre-decided upon narrative stories (and I do mean "stories")...
Jim does hit and run.
it doesn’t mean the doctors are lying, unlike that fricking loser farci.
what a ridiculous assertion by both of you, as we watch our country swirl down the toilet because of the farci/gates vaccine agenda.
Both are correct.
Both are correct
Oh get outta here — like yours is the only opinion that is every correct. Sort of dangerous for a doc, don’t you think?
The problem is that the media seeks out anti-Trump doctors.
There is a range of views on issues among professionals.
AP doesn’t want to provide that range.
“The problem is that the media seeks out anti-Trump doctors.”
Isn’t that the truth? All the press reports about how dangerous HCQ is based on one flawed VA study. They sought out those docs to quote their study endlessly. But the damn press think they are “unbiased” when they hand-pick their docs, then endless Trump bashing when Trump picks out docs that have a different viewpoint.
It is sickening.
No. They change their guidance every 5 minutes based on what they think is available and the latest political wind. As a practicing clinician it has literally been impossible to keep up with the changes
Boo hoo. Not fair to have doctors friendly to conservatives opine.
