Attorney General Bill Barr said Monday he does not expect U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review into the origins of the Russia probe will lead to a “criminal investigation” of either former President Barack Obama or former Vice President Joe Biden -- while noting that their concern of “potential criminality” in the conduct of that probe is “focused on others.”
Barr did say, however, that “not every abuse of power, no matter how outrageous, is necessarily a federal crime.”
“As for President Obama and Vice President Biden, whatever their level of involvement based on what I know, I don’t expect Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man,” Barr said. “Our concern of potential criminality is focused on others.”
This comes after both Obama and Biden -- the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee -- have faced heightened criticism from Republicans for any potential role in the early stages of the probe. Trump last week even called for Obama to be summoned to testify before Congress.
The politically explosive environment -- bringing the country into uncharted territory, with a former president accused by critics of involvement in a political probe related to his eventual successor, and the sitting president now essentially calling for retribution against his predecessor -- has built ever since the DOJ moved to dismiss its case against Michael Flynn.

Comey has not been let go by any means. Just because he was not charged on some smaller stuff does not mean he is not going to charged with bigger stuff.
Barr is happy to “investigate” the Obama admin now because
nothing substantive will come of that and it avoids shining a light on what has happened during Trump’s term. That, to me, is far more important and illustrative.
You’ve got Gowdy all over Fox telling us the FIB lied to Congress during 2017 about spying on the Trump.
And what did the GOP controlled Congress did nothing about it. Nothing.
And what happened to Roger stone for alleging lying to Congress? A swat raid and jail.
The bottom line is The Swamp, in a bipartisan attack, has stolen Trump’s first term from us.
The part with Obama and Biden should be handled with a military tribunal.

I hope Trump will immediately lay the foundations for a new conservative party if he is re-elected. The shelf life of the GOP, a fake party if there ever was one, has expired.
We allow a current US President to be investigated for criminality with unlimited money, time and personnel, but a previous president and his vice president can’t be touched, even though they face credible treason, rape and theft charges?

SCOTUS just said this. If Trump used his DOJ in a partisan manner as his predecessor did they would go after him in a year or four years and vice versa after that.
I want a non-partisan DOJ. Period. I do NOT want government agencies playing politics. Period.
It is dangerous.
Reveal the truth about what happened, prosecute people when appropriate, and let the chips fall where they will in the historical record.
Barr indicated today that he is not a partisan, and I think he stated pretty clearly that we have been right and there will be a reveal of what happened.
At this point, it is better than pounding my keyboard here as all of us (me included) agree that what happened to Trump was wrong on many levels.
Let us see it. Let the media eat it. Let Obama’s reputation absorb the stench. Just put it out there - that is the most important thing to 1) clear the air and 2) prevent this from ever happening again
The alternative, while it would be well-deserved justice for many of us, is dangerous.
I will be disappointed if the main actors in this get away with it too, but we are not there yet. We likely will be, but let’s find out the truth first. That would be the best thing for Donald J. Trump who has called this a hoax from the beginning.

I do not disagree and it makes my blood boil.
However, in the big picture the AG of the United States just said it today (he said 2 years, but still) too.
Barr does not say things without having the goods to back it up. We are going to learn much more about what happened.
That is true to a point.
It is also true that many complicated prosecutions take time.
I love your optimism, but the problem with it is that Barr is over the DOJ. It was Sidney Powell, not Barr that forced the DOJ to drop the Flynn case. Barr was going to let the DOJ hang Flynn. Barr should have been the one who reviewed his own department and dropped the case himself since Flynn is an innocent man!
Laws and justice are for the little people. The swamp is alive and will.

He did do this. He ordered Jeff Jensen, a United States Attorney and a former FBI agent, to review the case. Jensen is the one who wrote the motion to dismiss.
I will concede that it should have happened long ago, but in the end it happened, he ordered it, and he acted on the findings.
It was too slow for my liking also, but the whole Flynn case has been strange from the outset given that he pled guilty long ago and was awaiting sentencing for an eternity.
I get it. The glass half empty side of me says this should have been done immediately. However, the glass half full side says it was done. It was a huge blow to the crown jewel of the Mueller probe. Today Barr took a grade A dump all over the whole thing.
Barr has the goods. The left will howl and gnash their teeth, but he 1) asserted that he is not partisan and 2) he basically promised us that he will back up his words with what he knows, just as DOJ did with the motion to dismiss the Flynn case.
What Barr said today is all campaign season hot air.
Saying this would have mattered in 2017. It would have under cut Mueller and lying FIBbers. Thus giving POTUS political capital to fire Mueller, his coupist Democrats and clean out the fetid FIB/IC.
Now here we are 3 1/2 years later and that coupist horse has long left the barn. Barr can huff and puff all he wants. The facts on the ground won’t be changing in the very few months before the election. I wish it was different but it is what it is.

On another thread re this same subject, I posted a comment that it is wise for Durham and Barr to go after every part of the SNAKE that has injected so much poison into our Free Republic while leaving its “head” alone.
