AUSTIN, Texas - A Texas appeals court on Thursday upheld a lower court ruling that temporarily expanded mail-in balloting for any voters who fear for their health because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 14th Court of Appeals ruled in a split 2-1 decision that it would let stand a lower courts decision that fear of contracting the coronavirus made a voter eligible to vote by mail under state law.
The case was originally brought by the Democratic Party of Texas, which is looking to expand the ability of voters to cast ballots during the pandemic. The party hopes to continue gaining ground on Republicans, who have held a lock on Texas politics for decades.
U.S. President Donald Trump won the state by 9 percentage points over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
But Democrats made gains in the 2018 midterm elections at the state and federal congressional levels, and are confident that if they could get more ballots counted they would win more elections.

Republicans need to pass laws that provide for the integrity of any mail in ballot.
9 percent. I always figured Texas went for the R by 20 percent or something like that.
I hope demographics are trending our way there because that is a NEEDED state.
9 is pretty big. If a D won a state by 9 I would think it wouldn’t be contestable for a while.
Social Distancing >> Socialist Disease >>Ballot Harvesting
The economy and civil order are at risk. The Democrat devils are playing for all the marbles.
Just think, with mail in voting an entire state can now have over 100% voter participation in every precinct. Looks like Philadelphia is going nationwide.
Does not have one thing to do with the hoaxdemic and all to do with voter fraud
Must be sent by Certified Mail by both parties or simply request an Absentee Ballot.
IMHO, a lot of Texans were Leary of PDJT and sat the last one out when checking the Vote for President box.
The Great State of Texas is also starting to get a purplish color because of all the damn Yankees and west coaster migration.
I’d like to help out but I hate the hot weather.
If anything, I’ll probably move further north
Good idea
The Republicans just have to out harvest the Rats. Garcia won in California against the Rat harvest machine. If these Rats across the nation keep these commie shutdown orders going for months it will be an Albatross around their necks. Have no fear.
Maybe they’ll be an appeal to the Texas Supreme Court.
TX AG went on record yesterday that cv-19 “fear” didn’t meet criteria to qualify for fraud-by-mail.
.
Of course every Dimocrat bent of cheating will be filling many by mail ballots covering all the residents of their local cemeteries don’t you know since they will not feel safe going in person to vote. Ready made for voters fraud.
National Republicans say we dont need universal vote by mail because anyone who wants to can request an absentee ballot.
Texas is saying no you cant. Not if all youre worried about is Covid.
This is handing ammo to the Dems.
Not following why the judge ruled in favor. We have absentee voting and early voting. Anyone not willing to stand in line at the polls has options to avoid long lines.
The fact that the Democrat Party of Texas brought this lawsuit says all we need to know about their intentions. This will be fraud by the Left on a massive scale. This case should be appealed to a higher court.
Pandemics are now scheduled to happen every other year. This is part of the Left’s plan to do away with elections.
“But Democrats made gains in the 2018 midterm elections at the state and federal congressional levels, and are confident that _”if they could get more ballots counted they would win more elections”.................Seems the last part of that statement says it all. They don’t care what it takes if get those extra ballots counted, either.
