If the public unions weren’t so corrupt and venal they would demand that the governor stop all funds going to illegal aliens before there would be any negotiations about pay cuts.
Really . ..how many government “workers” actually do anything productive to civil society ?
Unemployment benefits taxed by US and the states....
You are right.
The family might be closer to starvation but the tax division will be happy. Those dollars could burn as premium gas exhaust behind the dual mufflers of one of Pelosi’s limos in three minutes, but as she said “you are worth it” (about herself).
Yep.
My wife works for the state.
Sucks, but everyone knew it was coming.
Beats layoffs.
My wife busts ass; data entry, phones, all the office stuff that no one notices until it isn’t done fast and competently.
Nope, that’s not how it worked last time, nor how it will work this time.
they have to take two unpaid days a month. Straight up salary reduction.
Whoever told you that “the pay they missed is put into a bank” is full of crap, or outright lying.
There are some perks that the higher up execs get, but not line workers.
What about his billion dollar face mask deal with that chinese company? No word on that!?!
I'm a Fed and I completely agree.
For every outbound UHaul there is a suburban coming in with 16 illegals packed in it. CA is being repopulated.
No way
Up up up
Better have those ballots boxed and ready to delivery.
They have to take two or three unpaid days off per month. Of course they wouldn’t get unemployment, nor do they get any kind of ‘weekly covid check’. It’s just having ten percent of the gross less.
I haven’t met in person anyone who is NOT working because of this alleged ‘covid check’, I don’t know a single person, in ANY field, who doesn’t want to get the hell back to work. I think there is a lot of second and third hand bullshit being made up about this, and I’m sure for someone making minimum wage working a shitty job it might be tempting, but it’s bullshit until I actually talk to someone first hand who is not working, when they could be, because unemployment pays more; until I do it’s just liars flapping their gums.
I bet your wife is the extreme exception. I’d say 50% of government “workers “ could be fired and no one would notice.
I propose a 30% cut in the number of employee’s and then a 25% cut for the ones left, and we let them join the Finest Health Care Plan on the Planet, California Covered, by STOPPING Taxpayer Funded Insurance.
Nope.
You could get rid of 50 percent of the managers and other executives, but the people who answer the phone, reply to your letter, do that clerical grunt work are usually stretched thin. Pretty much like the Good Neighbor insurance company we worked at before it laid us both off- the bottom-paid 20 percent do 80 percent of the work.
But any job is better than no job, my wife and I both have had that ethos before we met, and we’ve been married 31 years. There’s more honor to cleaning toilets or even (gasp) working for the State than getting even the most lucrative unemployment.
If unemployment is up 25% from its low then the federal and state employment should be reduced by 25%. Why should only private employees loose their jobs?
Correct. I have a relative who works for a North Eastern state and he is loving his job now with little real work and lots of bs telecommuting. He is conservative and knows what a fraud most state work is. Or a semi-fraud.
Since “we’re all in this together “ is the theme, put your money where your mouth is. A 20% cut would be a good start to show you “feel our pain”.
I received a 20% cut. Nuck Fewsom! Prick.
I was thinking more like a salted fart in a peanut shell.
“With state services in lockdown, people dont have to wait in long lines at the DMV where offices are closed..”
And all the human lamprey state employees keep getting paid.
