America's post-pandemic political shift to the right
The Hill ^ | May 5, 2020 | Grady Means

The coronavirus has led to the greatest economic catastrophe in our lifetimes. Record losses in the market, record bankruptcies, record unemployment and, soon, record insolvency of local governments. This social and economic firestorm will lead to massive shifts in political alignment. The question is, which way will politics shift this year and over the next several years?

Powerful arguments can be made on all sides. But a few factors are worth considering.

This is a complex situation with a lot of variables. America, in general, is center left and quite feminized, currently.

We’ll see.

The political campaign this fall needs to emphasize the Leftist oppression and failure to manage the crisis effectively on the part of Democrats.

Combine that with the criminality of FISAgate and the coup attempt and America might really shift to the right. But we’ll see if any of this happens.

There will be a suicide pandemic in six months time when President Trump is re-elected to another four years...our jobs will be to hold the gloved hands of the depressed and despondent...hug them tightly...hold their masked faces close to your own and recite the Lord’s Prayer to them... 😉

Can you say Ployannaism? You want proof that we will shift left? Just look at the measures taken and who supports them.

The virus counter measures are simply the Prog wish list. The supporters range from “Chicken Freeprs at home drawing a government check” to the wacko Greenies and all Democrats and Socialists in between.

The article is full of things like “When the dust settles, cutting the budget and tax restraint is the only viable road to recovery.” As if the “viable” path will be chosen by the 60% supported by government taxation of the 40%.

Please name any crisis that resulted in less power accruing to government.

I know, I shouldn't be watching the harpies on The View, but their heads are exploding that us unwashed are protesting our economic death, while they eat cake in their guilded cages.

Sunny Hostin is the worst.

If Trump can run against Joe Biden he will win in a walk.

If Trump must run against coronavirus, the outcome at this time cannot be predicted.

I've always said that Donald Trump's true opponent in this election is the coronavirus.

Second, it’s likely that many local governments will become are insolvent.

That's better and more truthful.

The fallout of a collapse of America's higher education system would be dramatic. Less expensive, online education may become the norm. “Branded” universities will begin to offer “e-degrees” to a vastly larger number of students. The “campus experience,” involving vibrant exchanges of ideas,

On what planet is this guy living?

I still enjoy watching videos of young millennials crying when Hillary lost. I imagine I will be doing the same when Joe Biden loses - masks covering quivering lips, however, will make it harder for me to enjoy my schadenfreude.

"...record unemployment and, soon, record insolvency of local governments..."

Yep. They are going to blame decades of incredible mismanagement, exorbitant state employee pensions, etc. on the pandemic.

‘America, in general, is center left and quite feminized, currently.’

yes, going to the supermarket and seeing men wearing masks and standing in lines outdoors like docile lambs confirms this...

The “campus experience,” involving vibrant exchanges of ideas

On what planet is he living? Well, I'd have to wager it's planet Earth, but he's old enough to remember (like me) that the "campus experience" once really was like that.

What happened to academe in the 'sixties and 'seventies is beyond disgraceful. Today, one meets lots of people with a slew of advanced degrees who are totally ignorant. Yet arrogant, smug, and self-satisfied. And moreover, consider themselves fit, even entitled, to rule the rest of us....

“ The “campus experience,” involving vibrant exchanges of ideas,”

The campus experience involves exchanges of ideas across the entire political spectrum ranging from radical socialist to hardcore communist. lol

his disappeared many years ago except at isolated high quality colleges like Hillsdale.
