'SNL's' Cecily Strong roasts Trump as Gretchen Whitmer: 'That woman' is 'what Trump calls his wife'

Cecily Strong of "Saturday Night Live" roasted President Trump while performing as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on Saturday.

Strong as Whitmer said governors are “having a moment right now” but that, unlike her, other governors are getting “cool nicknames.”

“Trump refers to me as ‘that woman from Michigan,’” she said. “But I’m not offended because I am proud to be from Michigan. And ‘that woman’ is also what Trump calls his wife.”

She continued by giving advice for protesters to safely exercise their First Amendment rights, including to stay home, maintain social distancing and wear a mask outside.

“I promise you can call me a bitch from the safety of your couch. It’s called Twitter,” she said.

The skit also commented on how Whitmer is under consideration to become presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s vice presidential candidate.

“If it’s going to be a woman, it might as well be ‘that woman,’” she said.

The president has referred to Whitmer as “that woman from Michigan,” prompting the governor to wear a T-shirt with the phrase on it when she was interviewed for “The Daily Show" earlier this month.

Trump has accused Whitmer of taking her stay-at-home order too far as protesters have demonstrated against the order and called for the state’s economy to reopen.

Michigan has documented at least 37,778 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 3,315 fatalities. The state ranks seventh in total cases and third in deaths, The New York Times reported.

There is ZERO humor about Gretchen Whitmer— which is why this is a very NOT funny sketch about her by some play actress.

The assumption of the script is that Whittmer has ANY redeeming characteristics... all siphoned from her AUTOCRATIC Dictatorial policies that have NO basis in CDC current guidelines NOR in the new US Federal “open up” guidelines. She is restricting LEGAL human Freedoms from our Constitution without ANY reasonable basis-— except... “I have the Power, I AM the Power”. The MI legislature has told her “NO, you don’t “.

This is the problem with the continual fake A@@ shite that NBC puts out on this way past its Expiry date idiotic “comedy” show of miscreants, bad actresses, nobodies and desperate “wannabee somebodies”. Quite sad, really, and... definitely not funny.

Certainly not from the days of Steve Martin and “two wild and carazy guys” in disco wear and platform shoes. And especially not as funny as the Bass-O-Matic-— real vaudeville.

Johnny Carson as Reagan, a “Who’s On First” spoof

They’ve been playing the Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour (MGHSH) from around ‘83, and Gene Rayburn and Jon Bauman just seethe with hatred for Reagan. That coward Fred Grandy even got in on the act when they asked him who earned more—Ronald Reagan or a chimp on a show called Mr. Smith that the MGHSH was heavily promoting—and Grandy said, “Reagan’s been a chimp a long time.”

Of course, Nixon bashing was all the rage on the ‘70s version of the Match Game. And they had a contestant who said she worked for a congressman, and Brett said, “Before I give my answer, do you work for a Republican or a Democrat?” When she said Democrat, Brett lit up and said, “Well, then we match!”

Bauman’s nephew is currently head of the California Democrat party. 🤮

To be funny it must have the ring of truth. Fail.

It is clear that when she mentions she represents her “constituents” she means those that voted for her. Didn’t vote for her then she has no time for you.
She is not funny flipping the bird to the president. She feels that is funny, she cannot be more wrong.

Even Dana Carvey’s “George Bush” was almost complementary.

Unlike Will Ferrell’s W, impersonation.

I miss the days, when we had guys like Mark Russell, who could be even-handed in their mockery of the two parties.

Who else but Beany’s partner Cecil in drag.

Yes, Cecile is a real lib.

But if you haven’t watched her “Girl you wished you hadn’t started a conversation with at a party” skits you are missing out. There are several on YouTube.

A typical and classic line from one of them: “Did you know that some homeless people can’t even pay their mortgages”

She acts the part of a typical lib - at least that’s my opinion. SNL producers might have a different view.

Even as a kid, I knew which way Mark Russell leaned. I didn’t find him particularly amusing.

30 replies and no one has referred to the most famous presidential “that woman” Monica Lewinsky. I’m disappointed.

Even as a kid, I knew which way Mark Russell leaned. I didn’t find him particularly amusing.

"LBJ is working too hard. Last night, he shook hands with his beagle and picked Hubert up by the ears."

"Richard Nixon's resignation made me very sad. I had to go back to writing my own material."

"Gerald Ford reminds me of the guy who answers the meat buzzer at the A&P."

"Jimmy Carter . . . I worry about a man whose teeth look like Chiclets."

I think he didn't pull punches with LBJ and Jimma Carter. Although as I think more about it, that may have been innate derision of Southerners to some degree.
