Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday that the border between Canada and the U.S. likely won't reopen to nonessential travel anytime soon as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread.
“There’s a recognition that as we move forward there will be special thought given to this relationship. But at the same time we know that there is a significant amount of time, still, before we can talk about loosening such restrictions,” Trudeau said at a daily briefing, according to Reuters.
Asked Wednesday if he is considering relaxing restrictions at the border with Canada, President Trump said “our relationship with Canada is very good" and "we’ll talk about that.”
“It will be one of the early borders to be released. We’re doing well. We’ll see. But at some point, we’ll be doing that,” Trump added.
Last month, Trump announced that the two countries agreed to close the border to nonessential travel in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

I still don’t know why President Trump hasn’t commissioned a fleet of 500 air conditioned buses to pick up everyone who crosses the US-Mexico, and transport them in comfort to the US-Canada border. Much cheaper than building a wall, and employing ICE to round up and deport them. You can even give them gourmet meals on the trip, and a brochure explaining all the free housing, education, food, medical and welfare that awaits in the Utopia that exists north of the 49th parallel.
