Here's something very revealing. The NY Post ran an article yesterday ("Coronavirus cases skyrocket in South Dakota after governor dismisses quarantine measures") excoriating the governor for not going along with the totalitarian quarantine measures. I'd encourage 1) every Freeper to read the article in light of the SD flu statistics from the South Dakota Department of Health; and 2) anybody from South Dakota to be a staunch defender and supporter of Governor Noem. I’m beginning to be convinced that this over reaction has a lot to do with the current president, as an attempt to damage his re-election chances.

From what I’ve read:
It is very contagious.
It is not something you want to catch.

What I’m noticing:
It’s not as devastating as the establishment portrays.
While contagious, it’s not as contagious as it’s said to be.
To the consternation of the establishment, many have had it, and didn’t even know they had it.

The question I always ask with these reports: How do these figures compare to the average number of cases — and deaths if that’s the topic — of the “regular flu” over the past, say, five years?

Add:

We must go through it.
There is no stopping it.
We can maybe slow the spread
You will exposed to WuFlu now or later but not never.

300 cases or so were discovered in a meat packing plant.

The plant employees over 3700 employees and is considered an essential business, so no shut down would have changed what happened in that plant.

They test heavily in the plant, any elevated temperature of cough gets a test. They are setting things up to open the pork plant as fast as possible.

South Dakota has a total of 6 deaths, and has tested more heavily than any of its neighbors. LIkely the testing was what caught it at this plant — which would have been open under any state’s guidelines.

This started with a Washington Post article that was a hit job on a GOP Governor

Thanks for the details, phothus. I have to keep reminding myself that “fake news” includes not just outright lies, but also stories that are incomplete or a mixture of fact and opinion that can change not just the tone of the report, but also its meaning. Cheers!

It is jaw dropping how many people seem to think that if they stay home, hiding under their bed, they’ll never get exposed.

I favor letting herd immunity happen. We know that works.

I prefer to be exposed after I've had a vaccine. Or, at least after I can readily get my hands on an effective treatment. Right now, I can do neither in my county.

Great! Opportunity for the Gov. with enough HCQ to treat 100k AND the desire to use it and see whether it can prevent infections! She’ll get our proof all the faster with the surge of clinical material. Cuomo, Fauci et all would stretch the proof out past vaccine arrival.

funny how this thing has spread to even the smallest towns and areas in the US, I even heard that is spread to indigenous tribes in the freaking Brazilian Jungle!

BUT... for some reason.. it hasn’t managed the round trip BACK TO CHINA!

hm...

I've managed so far. And, I haven't been hiding under the bed. It's real simple. Avoid the virus, and you won't get exposed. Three women in my family are nurses. Two of them are front-line workers in this pandemic working as isolation nurses caring directly for COVID patients. They don't get sick. They haven't caught this virus. They don't hide under the bed. They know how to avoid catching viruses.

Yup.

The goal was always to stop a surge in hospitalizations from crashing the health care system. We can look at New York and say Mission Accomplished.

Stopping anyone from catching it or dying from it was never a realistic goal.

“They know how to avoid catching viruses.”

I clearly am mocking the terror filled out there. Yes, you can mitigate your exposure. Wash your hands, keep your distance, be mindful of touching your face, and notice what you touch.

The fact that you don’t have it doesn’t mean you weren’t exposed. I mean, have you absolutely sanitized every thing you bring in the house? Do you open your mail with gloves? I could go on and on.

It’s a virus. Herd immunity will put an end to the hiding, and the predicted spikes, etc.

As far as we can tell, there’s a 98.5% survival rate. I’m in a high risk group, but I like those odds. I don’t want it, I don’t want to try and get it, but I don’t want to see my country collapse.

You may have a LOOOOOOOOOONG wait. Developing a vaccine for a virus is tricky. You can't just pull one out of your arse. And I would not take the word of Dr. Tony, a man who has failed to deliver an AIDS vaccine for over thirty years, that they'll have one in 18 months.

Or they may never find one.

Any vaccine that appears on the market in 18 months or less is likely to be a face-saving measure and a fraud.

Soros funded Covidactnow.org said 2 weeks ago that Hospitals in SD would be overloaded by tomorrow if they didn’t ACT NOW!!!! and shut down the state!!!!.

They didn’t.

As of yesterday, only 51 people in SD were “ever Hospitalized”.

SD has over 2,500 Hospital beds.

SD will be fine.

Here’s your mistake. You think the 98.5% applies to you, no way. If you’re in a high risk group the death rate of those effected is between 15% to even 20%. So you hang on to that 98.5% which doesn’t even come near applying to you.

You get COVID-19 you have a 1 in 5 chance of dying if you are 65 and older and or have risk factors.
