Far-right US politicians label lockdowns anti-constitutional
Associated Press ^ | April 14, 2020 | Nicholas K. Geranios

In deeply conservative eastern Washington state, a prominent state lawmaker kicked out of his Republican Party caucus labels the coronavirus as a foreign bio-weapon, accuses Marxists of using the pandemic to advance totalitarianism and rails against lockdown restrictions imposed by the Democratic governor.

A California teleconference last week to consider sport fishing limits in rural areas unprepared to handle influxes of anglers descended into chaos — with callers branding state officials as “fascists” and declaring it was time to “make fishing great again.”

Across the U.S., elected officials from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma suspicious of big government and outraged with orders to close churches, gun stores and other businesses deemed non-essential insist that the public health response is being used as an excuse to trample constitutional rights.

The shutdowns reinforce long-held beliefs by some that governments would eventually use a national emergency to limit civil liberties and the vitriol is particularly strong across the pine forests of eastern Washington state — where conservative Rep. Matt Shea is a co-founder of the Coalition of Western States, a loose federation of politicians suspicious of big government, plus militia supporters.

Hey, AP! You ever come across a far left politician, or do you consider them to be "mainstream/middle of the road"?

Just what I was waiting for!!!

When the press has to start attacking anyone supporting the Constitution as being “far right” you know that they are in trouble.

Next up, the Constitution itself will he derided.

They are wedded to lockdown and they won’t let anything cause a divorce.

To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .

The fact that a media figure labels any of these opinions as "far-right" is what is disturbing.

Stupid Ape Pee doesn’t realize those mythical totalitarians will eventually come after news operations. ‘Course, the Ape Pee is probably in on that effort.

So now areas that are not uber liberal and have a reasonable number of normal people are “deeply conservative?”

Who knew?

What of the old extreme Left is extreme to the Left anymore?

That tells you why everything looks like the far right to them.

Even today’s “moderate” Democrats are the people that HUAC was intended to prevent ever having influence.

In my view, Comrade Mayor, Comrade Governor, and not even the President of the United States has the legal authority to override the Constitution under any circumstances. They can convince, they can ask, they can plead, and they can beg that certain guidelines be followed, but they don’t have the power to order that the Constitution be ignored. (Note Screen name.)

Well the far left still benefits from the fruits of the capitalist system supported by the far right, real socialism isn’t being fairly represented.

It’s “far right “ to oppose unconstitutional actions.
