Ted Cruz: ‘WE DON’T LIVE IN A POLICE STATE
ACM ^ | April 5,2020 | JD Rucker

Posted on 04/05/2020 5:17:40 PM PDT by Hojczyk

There are few places in this nation safer from the coronavirus than seclusion in one’s vehicle. While driving, we are neither likely to contract the disease nor spread it to others. But in Pennsylvania, the spirit of caution has been replaced by authoritarianism and overt abuse of power as law enforcement officers have been ordered to ticket people simply for driving without an “essential” purpose.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) took great exception to news of this degree of enforcement.

politicians (and it seems to be only Dems doing this, eg Wolf in PA, DeBlasio in NYC, Cooper in NC), protect public safety, but WE DON’T LIVE IN A POLICE STATE. Resist authoritarianism & don’t abuse power. Driving a car alone is not a public health threat.

understandable considering the lockdowns. People do not like to feel as if they’re prisoners, even in our own homes. She was putting nobody at risk, including herself, yet she was pulled over and ticketed. That’s not the American way. At least it shouldn’t be.

Some would say we should wait until after the coronavirus crisis before we move forward. That would be a tremendous mistake for two reasons. First, trying to pry newfound power from authoritarian progressives is like trying to take a bone from a hungry rottweiler. Second, the longer the people are exposed to draconian policies, the more normalized it becomes. We cannot afford to wait to defend our rights.

There is a right way and wrong way to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. While the left is quick to say we must “listen to doctors” and “follow the science,” they are very selective about which doctors and what science we’re supposed to follow. Anyone who calls for locking the entire nation down with an iron fist is popular

How does that work? If I am driving can they pull me over for no other reason except to ask what my essential purpose is? Can I exercise the 5th? Or is that suspended as well?

What do the Chicken Freepers say? Is this needed to save lives?

If I sneeze while being interrogated will I be charged with assault an LEO?

Governors and mayors who act like little Mussolinis need to be arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced to be publicly hanged.

Amazing that the question keeps arising “whose side will the police be on?”

I won’t name names as I’m not certain on any of this, but have heard that it was resolved to the public benefit without any charges etc. Perhaps this won’t happen again. I agree that Wolf is a typical Dem always wanting power first, along with lack of citizen rights, less freedom and lack of sharing info with the public.

While it’s cute to make smarmy comments people should take this seriously. Absent martial law nobody has the power to suspend our rights - no matter what! I am not sick and not at high risk. Is live in a relatively rural area. If I get sick from my own actions then so be it. If I get sick I will take actions to avoid infecting others. But I absolutely refuse to live in fear or be subjected to the whims of doctors, police, governors or anyone else who attempts to remove or infringe on my rights. After all this is over there needs to be some court actions to determine to what extent anyone can undermine the bill of rights. This is so out of hand...our local police were at Walmart today regulating who and how many people are allowed in the store! Not required and not an effective use if my tax dollars. While they were there another store was burglarized!

Ted Cruz is one of the good guyz folks. He is a constitutional conservative. His mother was a United States citizen therefore conveying U.S. citizenship to her child regardless of being born on Canadian soil.

Cruz kicked @$$ as solicitor general for the state of Texas, arguing before the supreme court against the Obozo administration....and won multiple cases.

Can't believe people have a hard on for Cruz when he has done a great job for Texas and holds a strong conservative voting record in the U.S. senate.

My wife’s Kin lives East of Dallas and require a police pass to leave their house. It appears the Police State is there.

Study your Constitution. Ted is an American citizen; born in Canada of a Cuban father and an AMERICAN mother. That makes him an American.

If that’s true they have elected idiots locally. I’m in central Texas. Traffic is just as heavy as always here. Made a trip to the hardware store today. Crazy busy. Ice cream truck pulled up to the neighbor’s today. A dozen families came in groups and got thats. Appropriate distances were respected. But zero restrictions or heavy-handed action by LEOs.

Here in FL, I’m solo driving where I want, when I want. Yes, we’re “not supposed to.”

Sometimes when stopped at a red light, no cross traffic, I run it. Been doing it for years.

And I remove all tags from mattresses and pillows.

He could be a great Senator if he keeps his mind on that.
He is not a natural born citizen.
Natural born citizens are naturally citizens because they cannot be anything else.
It takes more than just being an American on one’s mother’s side or Winston Churchill would not have been given “honorary” citizenship by Congress.

I’m glad someone besides me is concerned. Comrade Mayors and Comrade Governors are a lot scarier than the virus.

I was just running some numbers looking at areas with more than 100 deaths. There are 13 of them and those 13 locales account for 57% of the deaths so far. Six of the top 10 are in NY and NJ.

It’s time to end the reign of these little czars and to semi-isolate NY/NJ, send them as much help as we can but for the rest of us to get back to work.

Eligible for citizenship, but not a natural born citizen.
Natural born citizens are born here of citizen parents.
The children of foreign nationals born with divided citizenship, loyalties and allegiances are precisely who the founders were excluding.
Obama is proof they were correct.

Coming from the wacko state of Virginia.

Thank God Ted Cruz is my senator. Democrats in Texas are more conservative than republicans in Virginia.
