Dr. Deborah Birx said Saturday that Americans should especially focus on social distancing guidelines in the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe, she said.
Birx noted that Pennsylvania, Colorado, and the Washington, DC, metro area were starting to have an increasing number of cases.
Were hoping and believing that if people mitigate strongly, the work that they did over the last two weeks will blunt that curve, she said.
She pointed to really bad hotspots in New Jersey and New York, where cases of the virus and deaths were still going up.
The next two weeks are extraordinarily important, she said.
Dr. Anthony Fauci also said three or four hotspots were continuing to rise, but that certain areas could flatten the curve by social distancing.
Just make sure everybody does the at least minimal amount of that physical separation, because the virus has no place to go if youre physically separating, Fauci said.

I don't believe that will happen - because people need feed. Unless the US military is going to start making food deliveries, stores will be open. Re: stores - you will see more crowd flow setups so that people only enter/exit in a certain way, only go one way down aisles, etc. But stores will stay open.
With that said, Dr. Borx needs to stop adding to the FUD. Her comments about shopping and pharmacy did not help. People need meds and food. Period.
a poster on a previous thread allowed that the reason stores are outta TP is cause now folks are havin to eat their own cookin
If you changed it and put your preferred numbers on it, it would still look basically the same.
The whole point of mitigation is the rate, and the chart clearly shows the difference in rate between the two diseases.
Imagine if Dr. Deborah Brix and Dr. Blasey Ford raised a child together? The voice would be totally intolerable.
Typical BS answer and certainly not unexpected.
I am quite competent at math and I am also able to source statistics on my own without your guidance and approval, comrade.
The reason I called out this crap is I actually have gone over the numbers on my own initiative and noticed immediately that this persons data, as presented, does not reflect reality.
In fact, the author of that nonsense explicitly noted that it was created by the author and manipulated at the author’s discretion.
You implore me to believe the bullshit you’re preaching and don’t think for myself.
If I don’t take your word for it, in your eyes I am a heretic.
You’re welcome to your version of reality. Enjoy your stay!
Maybe it’s just me, or living too long in the SF area, but it’s only the good prog witches that wear scarves like hers.
If she wants to hide the wrinkles, abandon the low-cut blouses for sweaters or other tops that cover that area of the chest.
Sramble/mix, in my large mixer....then pour into quart FREEZER ziploc bags, by either half doz or doz (you can guesstimate, after a while).
Remove ALL air.
Lay flat on cookie sheet, freeze.
I’ve also poured into ice cube trays, but find the ziploc method works best.
I also freeze half and half and heavy cream. I pour into ice cube trays, freeze, remove, then vacuum seal. Lasts quite a long time.
Looks like these a-hole Docs are hitting THEIR peek in the curve. We will soon see other peeks decline also. The crisis and “crisis” will soon recede and phase 2 will come: ANOTHER investigation and ANOTHER impeachment.
[Can’t understand the flour and sugar shortage. Most people don’t know how to bake. ]
Okay, if you don’t like it, then don’t worry about it.
It was in our CV thread.
I guess it doesn’t matter.
Damn glad my gut was right about stocking up for at least two months.
It's a pointless chart, though. We all know the seasonal flu is going to have a flatter curve since it evolves over 20-plus weeks.
That doesn't mean 100,000 are going to die from the coronavirus.
My daughter bought me mini-moos. I’m in Upstate and stay in most of the winter. I’m 76. A little expensive. Told her next year I will freeze half and half (like you do). I like the ice cube tray idea. Thanks.
Yes, it is, and me too.
What size freezer is that? I’m thinking of getting a 7.0 cu ft freezer to supplement what I already have.
Yawn. I would rather live free and die early than have my life run by a bureaucrat who thinks she has to protect me against the worst case scenario.
I’m not panicked, but right now, we wear masks when we go shopping. How do I know all those around me are well? Not everyone uses common sense, or washes their hands, let alone properly. And besides, it’s just common courtesy right now. Why do I want to frighten some little old lady, if I happen to sneeze? Be considerate, instead of rebellious; think of the other guy, for now.
I went for at least 6 mos....in my freezers.
All meats are vacuum packed.
Its like a weather forecast..Based on their models NY & NJ are supposed to reach the apex of Covid19 cases by next weekend. They expect a surge in confirmed cases & deaths. Not sure why the Grocery store warning ? I was in a Staten Island grocery today, people were spacing, wearing masks, gloves, etc. To make a comment like that is alarmist. This is the most hyped case since Y2K when the World would supposedly crash because computers couldnt handle changing from 12/31/1999 to 1/1/200. Serious virus treated like Ebola by Cable News ..who are making a fortune sensationalizing the story..
If you’re in a large place check local grocery chains. Ours have 7a - 9a twice a week for “Golden Years” and first responders only.
They will also deliver, we haven’t tried that yet.
