The cat is already out of the bag, this thing is very contagious. Where we live in Washington we were hit early and deaths and serious cases are already declining. Fortunately, the worst case scenarios were off by a factor of dozens of times. The reasons my friends on the fire department that I used to work for have been hammered hard is because young people with no symptoms and not in a risk group have been freaking out and jamming the 911 system demanding that they get tested. Everyone wants to be able to claim they were infected before the thing goes away.
This should have been done a week ago....HOWEVER...I do hope the POTUS differentiates between the NYC metro area and the Adirondacks and Finger Lakes regions.
Upstate NY does not require quarantine...other than to keep NYC out.

My wife and I have both volunteered and been paid to work at the Life Care Center in Kirkland. I was one of the first here who said that this was more than just political shenanigans and took a lot of heat for that. I had no idea the panic could morph into what it has.
We have several hundred thousand recent Chinese immigrants in Eastern King County. Going to the Costco in Kirkland sometimes feels like the fish market in Wuhan. Many Chinese people return to China frequently. Over ten thousand came back after the travel ban by going into Vancouver International instead of SeaTac. They brought this back in December and January.
