Update: Massie said on Twitter Friday that he will seek a roll call vote on the stimulus package. Earlier: WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Thomas Massie enraged President Donald Trump on Friday as he has leaders of Congress worried he will delay a planned Friday voice vote on a $2.2 trillion coronavirus economic rescue plan, drawing calls from the White House to throw him out of the Republican Party.

It’s ALL a travesty. The only good thing about it for me personally is that I have been trading equities since the 12th. I posted about this here on FR back then. I managed to get in way below my target prices and out on almost everything but Exxon. My lowest sell price was on a 14% profit. I’m waiting for the idiots to pass this insane legislation then I’ll get out again on what’s left if the market leaps. Pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered.

Will the market keep seesawing? Probably since they are talking about doing more of these dumbass bills.

FYI, I’m convinced that most of Congress and their families play this same game with insider information. Yea, there is supposed to be a law but....

It was a Trillion dollar bill. Then it became the 1.6 trillion. Nancy wanted 2.5 trillion. Nancy “backed down” and now it’s 2.2 and loaded with billions for Democrat projects to foster illegal voting, dump boatloads of money on Africa, billions for refugee resettlement with no time limit. Yeah, they need to vote on Nancy’s dream bill. Good for him.

You're right. And the Senate should've rejected Comrade Pelosi's bill until all but Coronavirus money was in it. Sigh.

I wish the Republicans would back Massie.
This spending spree could bankrupt the country.
It feels like AOC is in charge of Congress.
It is almost a complete socialist dream list.

Just yesterday, or the day before, AOC was threatening the same thing. Of course the MSM didn’t much cover this, but they did mention it (as link to the CNN article shows).

Headline:
AOC warns she may force House members to return for stimulus vote, potentially delaying final passage

Massie is a hero. Where is Rand Paul. Why is he approving of this garbage?

The congress critters could have used Thursday while Nancy took the day off for her birthday. Or Wednesday when they had another 15 minute session.

Congress would pass a bill without a quorum.
I’m not sure on the precedent on this, but what other items would dear Nancy decide to slip through this way?

The bill is overwhelmingly going to pass. This is an unnecessary stunt.

Do not care. There should be no such thing as a voice vote in our republic. Each congresscritter should always be forced to go on record for bills they support or oppose. Congress is always welcome to join the 21st century and have electronic voting. It's not like they have to have a secret ballot.

what’s the big deal?

Exactly. It's not like they didn't know this was coming. They are being paid well to freaking do their job. They should do it.

Doesn’t no roll call mean they can hide behind their vote?

They can try. If the bill passes, no matter what they say later, you should consider the lack of their objection to requiring a roll call vote as a vote for. No matter what they say later, they are lying about it.

There's not one stupid comment.

    There were three.
  1. Nancy Pelosi slowed it down for a day or so during negotiations, and then accepted the unanimous Senate bill. She then tried get it passed by the House ASAP this week. Nothing in the Senate bill is poison. It is a bona fide compromise.
  2. All the members of Congress are for the bill (except extreme cases like Massie and perhaps Sanders).
  3. The kid at Kroger lives nearby so he can get to work. If the President and Vice President were infected and incapacitated the consequences are much more severe to the nation than if a kid at Kroger gets the virus. A patriot should understand this reality.

Your #2 illustrates exactly why patriots should be opposed to this monstrosity.

If anything the bill should have been split into “must have” and “pork” bills, with each one voted separately. The only ones holding Congress hostage are those who want to give handouts to favored groups - mostly Democrats.

The prez and vp weren’t in the house. My point remains. A real patriot would understand the damage done by this bill.

Nonsense; the President and Vice President are subject to the same call of duty as Members of Congress under your kid working at Kroger rule, even though what happens to them affects the nation on a larger scale. The point of having everyone behave like a kid working at Kroger is silly.

A real patriot would understand the damage done by this bill.

Now that is a doubly stupid comment; the economy, markets, employment were plummeting and it was only this bill that prevented the panic continuing.

IF this bill was essential, then it should have been passed the right way. Not like a banana republic does on a voice vote.

The point of having everyone behave like a kid working at Kroger is silly.

No. The point is if the kid at Kroger can do his duty so can congress. Congress is acting like they're better than the kid at Kroger or the doctor at the hospital or the orderly cleaning the rooms at the hospital.

You being former AF I think would understand that.

Yup. It's highly disappointing that the Senate had zero votes against this massive piece of crap. I'd expect a lot better from several of the more Conservative Senators...

Such high brow, intellectual responses from you. Easier to call people names than to address your hypocrisy.
