Three Republican senators are warning that they will oppose the $2 trillion coronavirus response package unless a massive drafting error in the legislation, that they say will create an incentive for employers to lay off employees, is fixed.
Fox News is told the concern is that the current version could pay workers more in unemployment benefits than they're currently making, by sticking a $600 per week payment on top of ordinary benefits that are calculated as a percentage of income. This could disrupt the labor market further, the lawmakers warn.
"A massive drafting error in the current version of the coronavirus relief legislation could have devastating consequences: Unless this bill is fixed, there is a strong incentive for employees to be laid off instead of going to work. This isnt an abstract, philosophical point -- its an immediate, real-world problem, Sens. Tim Scott, R-S.C., Ben Sasse, R-Neb., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a statement.

He said that they are working on an amendment to fix the problem that would mean that the maximum unemployment benefit is 100 percent of someones salary,...

That pic is the rats end game. 0bastard must be grinning from ear to ear. This whole things seems highly orchestrated and planned out.
Just fix it and get back to us.
Youse guys have been included in the 535 Group to get the work of the People done. We don’t want excuses, we want positive action. Get. On. With. It.
Make it a ballot referendum and it will pass in a landslide.
It is a bit much.
My husband and I are both laid off. Unemployment is enough for us to pay our bills. Thanks to not living above our means we are going to be okay if out of work for a few months.
We will be taking advantage of the extra time to pay our taxes :)
“Yes, except we should pay Congress not to work................”
I thought we already did?
Wow, I do not make quite $13/hour (office manager) and do not think I can get unemployment. Not working now.
Then we should pay them to stay home...................
You got it. Error my ass. These bastards try anyway they can to sneak their little perks through. Short rope and tall tree will fix that “error”
It should be closer to 80%. Once the country reopens, there will be a lot of slackards who won't want to go back to work.
Makes me wonder why I should work through this.
“Hes right. Current maximum unemployment benefit in Tennessee is $275 a week. $875 a week is more than most make in their jobs.”
If you qualify for the max, wouldn’t you be making more than $875?
It should just be a cap of $600.00 a week that is it!!
I read that earlier and thought if you qualify for Indiana’a max $390 a week, damn!
Errror... Errror..Fauulty.. Must Sterilize
Errrrror!
If unemployment is going to be 100% of someones salary why would ANYONE want to work this is a mess!!!

Notice how they say nothing of the DACA amnesty that is in there as well?
Not an Error!
BTTT
Got a link or page number for that claim?
An amendment to fix it....do a no more than....say $500 per week.....likely enough to get by for awhile. If you were making a lot of money, then I hope you knew enough to save.
