Yes, Virginia's Governor Has Made It a Crime for More Than 10 People to Attend a Church Service

But a "Frequently Asked Questions" sheet that his office published about the executive order does address the issue.

The fifth question it answers is: "What about religious services? Can I still go to my church, synagogue, or mosque?"

The answer: "Virginians are strongly encouraged to seek alternative means of attending religious services, such as virtually or via 'drive-through' worship. Places of worship that do conduct in-person services must limit gatherings to 10 people, to comply with the statewide 10-person ban."

My church in NJ is using Zoom. Our Bishop has closed our church until May.

We have done two Sundays so far, and attendance is up!

I heartily recommend Zoom to anybody who needs to meet. We have had Zoom Sunday Services, Zoom Daily Office, Zoom Vestry Meetings, Zoom Dinners.

It is cludgy and not as good as being there, but if you can’t be there, it is a good replacement, and people really appreciate the opportunity to get “out” for a little while.

NJ is getting bad. It is good to be locked in.

We need to elect many more folks who understand such fundamental American principles as freedom of religion. For most of my life, I tried to identify which of the candidates would be the best for the job. In 2007, a Freeper named Alan Keyes persuaded me of a better approach: bring my own minimum standard for support to bear before evaluating candidates. If none of the existing candidates meet your personal minimum standard, do what you can to raise up one who does. I’ll be happy to work with you to help talk up this approach in your state.

'This should not be a problem for the Episcopalians.'

Or the Unitarians or one of those joints where you can get ordained online for $25.99. (Remember, kick in an extra $20 and they'll make you a Bishop!)

“1) She wants to keep her license. 2) She doesn’t know how clean your home is. 3) It isn’t worth the hassle to drive to pack up her equipment and drive to your home. 4) It is just a haircut and not your house burning down. You can wait a couple weeks.”

She wants to me to wait a month.

Presumably your local store or pot club or liquor or pharmacy or dry cleaners or hardware can have more them ten people in it. THAT’s ok.

I’d have church anyway but do open air with people standing or sitting six feet apart in family groups.

Nor should it be a problem for the Biden campaign rallies.

You could follow safe distancing and still gather to worship and not “test God.”

Find another barber. Many are probably willing to come to your house. They are probably going broke.

-- Is it Constitutional to stop peoples rights of freedom of assembly? --

It depends, but in general there is no prohibition on regulating assembly. The one specific sticking point is when the purpose of the assembly is to petition the government for redress of grievances.

Still SMH at the fact he can’t remember which one of the two he was in that photo — as if that matters.

He’s the poster boy for the Dems’ incessant “for thee but not for me” rules.

Yes, I actually think these lockdowns will end up bringing more people to Christ. Those who may have been hesitant to attend a traditional church service can now watch online services. We even have a local church doing drive-in services with the blessing of local medical and law enforcement agencies. In uncertain times, many people turn to religion.

Perhaps your barber doesn’t want to get the virus from a customer.

Does she have the finances/insurance to pay a catastrophic medical bill if she gets really ill from this?

She hasn’t surrendered any freedom at all. It’s her business.

Without a doubt, it is unconstitutional. A church should file suit in court and test to see if VA Courts have gone fascist too. Certainly the Governor of Virginia is making quite a name for himself by acting in an unconstitutional way. Other Democrat Governors are following suit, to wit: Governors of Nevada, Washington, California, New York, Illinois, and Kansas. Showing their real stripes.

Maryland’s RINO has also closed churches.

It greatly. Pains me to say this but Governess Whitmer (D) of Michigan got it right. Churches are not included but the overwhelming majority voluntarily are closed.
