Mike Pence’s Idea Is a Good Way to ‘Kill Hundreds & Thousands,’ Expert Says

The White House coronavirus task force on Sunday dangled new CDC guidance that might suggest some Americans with exposure to the 2019 novel coronavirus could return to work wearing a mask.

Vice President Pence on Sunday said the guidance “will make it possible for people that have been exposed to return to work more quickly with—by wearing a mask for a certain period of time.” He suggested it would be spelled out in more detail this week.

When asked about the potential guidance on Monday, Pence said it was still in the works, and might be targeted at a small subset of workers deemed critical.

“We're specifically looking at people that work in critical infrastructure—people in law enforcement, people in critical transportation,” he said. “The guidance we're looking for unpacking is how the people who may have come into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus, if they have no symptoms, [may] be able to return to work [and] wear a mask for a certain period of time.”

Pence said the proposed guidance would be before the president and possibly even before the public on Tuesday. But experts had already begun to blast Pence’s floated proposal as a dangerous one.

William Haseltine, president of the global health think tank ACCESS Health International, who recently chaired the U.S.-China Health Summit in Wuhan, called the potential guidance “deadly, deadly advice” as U.S. cases of the virus climbed to more than 40,000 infections and more than 500 deaths.

Most Americans have been told by federal agencies to avoid large gatherings—even if they have not been exposed to the deadly virus. Orders to stay inside except for essential needs like grocery runs and trips to the pharmacy have also been issued in a slew of states.

While the daily beast is a Trump hating net rag, I agree with hazeltine that people exposed to the virus should get tested before returning to work. I’m sure Pence meant that, plus having people wearing masks at work.

The daily beast is an America hating pos commie rag that wants to destroy the economy by threatening millions die if we go back to work. Their and the lefts agenda is to destroy the economy to get rat victory in Nov.

President Trump stated that the cure can be worse than the disease. Indicating that the harm to our countries economy, if we continue down the path Gov’t Bureuaucrat Doctors and Researchers are suggesting, will do more long term damage than the Wuhan Virus ever would is beginning to be realized by more and more Americans, including the VP.
Well, this realization is panicking the TDS leftist dems/media, etc...so, as this realization is taking hold, the leftist dems/media whose last best hope to defeat President Trump is in jeopardy with this realization are now, once again, about to go into their typical, “we’re ALL DOOMED” mode.
The media/dems play will be, we need to keep the entire country in a shutdown mode for months to ensure the protection of the people. Knowing full well this will cause our economy, Trump’s Strength, to completely come apart and, then, they will use the destroyed economy against him.
They could not care less about the people, the businesses that employ the people, they only care about regaining and retaining Central Gov’t Power for Themselves. Period. Nothing else matters to them. Least of all the people.
This is the power play they are engaged in in the midst of this Wuhan Virus. Never let a crisis go to waste is their mantra. The people be damned.

The goggles are almost as important as the masks.

And for that plan to work. Everyone needs to wear them.

I’ve had about enough of the experts, who want to believe that once out of college, little or no more education is needed. They’re lazy in some ways, and they need to grow up enough to make sure that they have all of the equipment needed for their work in advance.

Pence’s advice should include store clerks. They’re not all incapable of learning to use safety equipment properly. And for those who aren’t, they’ll be no worse off than the doctors wearing commercially produced masks for a week at a time, each slathered with hand sanitizer between shifts.

There are store clerks who are capable of making their own masks and using them more competently than many other do with commercial masks. And BTW, soldiers have done it better.

I catch your drift. COVID-19 is far worse for most to suffer from than the flu, and no one is a successful fortune teller. That’s why they’re so hasty to shout now. The China virus has only begun to run its course in the U.S.A.

a few snippets from Stanford epidemiology professor John Ioannidis PDF at link I posted (he should be head of President Trump’s covid team):

Early estimates of case fatality rate may be markedly exaggerated.

Part of the growth of documented cases could reflect rapid increases in numbers of coronavirus tests performed...Even if bottlenecks in test availability are eventually removed, the epidemic curve may still reflect primarily population sesitization and willingness for testing rather than true epidemic growth.

Policy-makers feel pressure from opponents who lambast inaction.

Maintaining lockdowns for many months may have even worse consequences than an epidemic wave that runs an acute course.

If COVID-19 is not as grave as it is depicted, high evidence standards are equally relevant. Exaggeration and over-reaction may seriously damage the reputation of science, public health, ***media, and policy makers. It may foster disbelief that will jeopardize the prospects of an appropriately strong response if and when a more major pandemic strikes in the future.

the vp’s idea that is. if you’re asymptomatic, especially after a negative test or several days, given your own medical history of colds, etc., you should certainly consider going back to work, taking the normal precautions, mask, gloves etc.

ROTFLOL!

Another example of the disconnect between the “ruling class” and the unwashed peasants.

Farmers’ markets are still open and in business, even in California.

But these “experts” probably never set foot outside their ivory towers, or they’d understand that people at such markets (and many other open businesses) are not rubes, and are indeed able to take precautions.

And they’re not dropping dead on the streets by the hundreds or thousands.
